We lost both of our dogs in a 3 month period. Luna a GSD mix to degenerative spinal myopathy and Dieter a WGSD to stomach cancer. It was pretty devastating. I didn’t want another dog. However we had been thinking about a therapy dog for my wife’s practice(trauma therapist) but after the dogs got sick we shelved that idea. In June we got a phone call from a breeder I had talked to months prior when we were looking for a therapy dog, she had a GSD that had been a psychiatric support dog for a women that had been permanently hospitalized and the dog ended up back with the breeder after being bounced around.

Sometimes you get the dog you need not the dog you want. Against my better judgement we brought Henry home in June. We got him in June and he has completed Obedience 1 and 2 and was certified through Therapy Dogs International as a certified therapy dog in November. Here is Henry at training and at work.

It is so hard losing a dog. They are family, better than most people. So full of love.

One thing to watch out for is sometimes it takes a while to adjust to a new home, looking at the second photo……..

He is a beauty!

Congrats and enjoy!

Wyatt is a beautiful boy. The second picture is at my wife’s office where he works as a therapy dog. She sees a lot of first responders and military ( she specializes in ptsd and other severe traumas) while German Shepards are not typically used for therapy dogs he works well with her clients.
