Don't know about the C1, but I bought a pair of B3 8-powers a few years ago as an extra general utility set of glass. Very happy with the optical quality and overall quality.
They were bought at a local SCI expo where Maven had a booth. I was impressed by their "try it out" policy, and they gave a veteran's discount.

My initial reading on the company is that their business model is direct to consumer, to save the consumer money. If a google response can be believed, the B range binoculars are assembled in the US, the C range binoculars are made in the Phillipines, the riflescopes are made in Japan...there is a facebook maven enthusiasts page also, with lots of info.
