Save an Elephant Kill a Poacher |
I had a Foscam camera mounted in our Owl box and it was great till it quit working. I mounted a Nest camera but it doesn't have the zoom/picture taking qualities I am looking for. Just ordered the newer model Foscam camera and it works fine on iPhone and iPad but not on the MAC. Foscam customer support is non-existent. I paid a computer NERD through Amazon who come to house and after 2-hours even he could not get it to work on the MAC. Seems I heard something about Apple no longer supporting certain companies that don't meet their parameters but I can't quite remember entire article content. Is anyone else having Foscam issues? Any suggestions on a zoom/tilt picture taking WI-FI camera that works on a MAC? Thanks for your thoughts. What browser are you using on the Mac? Try another browser. Are you logging in directly with the IP? Apple should have zero control of access (when accessing the camera directly via IP) Type the IP in your browser and your creds and you should log directly into the camera. Looks like to use the App you may need to install an Android emulator. https://apps4mac.com/foscam-app-for-mac/This message has been edited. I use Safari. The Amazon NERD tried using Chrome which he said almost anything works on and still no good. And, he had the IP directly to the camera and still no hook-up. I am no computer expert but he was doing things I could not even imagine. His thought was the camera was broken. I too recommend using a different browser. My cameras will not display properly when I access them individually with anything other than Internet Explorer. Of course that is not an option with you as you are using Apple. Could it be time for an entirely new camera? The new HikVision / LTS / Duhua cameras will certainly out perform any of the older Foscam's.

If it works fine on the iPad and iPhone it is not broken. I presume you are using FOSCAMs app??? Try downloading a free IP camera viewer on the iPhone or iPad and see if it lets you see the camera by typing in the IP. Try the steps in the link I posted to see if you can get the app to work. What happens when you type the cameras IP into the browser? Does it get you the log in screen to type in your creds or an error. Also make sure you are adding :88 to the end of the IP address when typing it into the browser. FOSCAM adds this but it does not show up on the external IP finder or on my connected device IP list pulled up directly from my router. I had trouble getting BlueIris to pull up my FOSCAM and this was the issue. 10.x.x.xxx:88 must be entered to access the camera yet the :88 is no where to be found in any of my IP logs. It only shows when logged directly to the camera and looking at the settings panel. This is my first FOSCAM in a very long time. I just got it less than a month ago. I am no network wizz and have no clue why the :88 must be added, what the :88 is, or why it is not shown on any of my IP finders. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. The 88 is a port number. The standard port for a web server over http:// is port 80, and all browsers assume 80 without having to add :80 to the address. One can set up a web server to run on any port, though. It is not a good idea to pick one that is used by another common service, such as port 25 used by smtp. Common alternative ports for a web server are generally in the 80's, and you will sometimes see :8080. If the web server is not set up with the default port of 80, the actual port has to be added to the address with the colon and port number. When in doubt, mumble

Yes the :88 was already tried. It brings up the Foscam sign in but goes no further than that. you click to start and after it spins a few, it defaults back to the log in screen. Probably went thru this foscam :88 screen 20 times already. And 92X your right, the camera works on iPad/phone so probably is not broken. Strange. On the IPhone and iPad are you using Foscams app? I don’t have a Mac computer but when I use my browser on my iPhone above the log in it says the plugin needs to be downloaded. I wonder if the plugin download is getting blocked by your router or firewall. Have you tried running an android simulator and running the app on the Mac yet? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Yes, Foscam App for the phones/pad. And yes, on the MAC it says to download plugin which to date has probably been done 40 times now. It does download and "installed" but still nothing. I also asked the NERD if the router security levels was blocking Foscam but he said it wasn't..have to take his word on that. My firewall is 'on' and I might try turning it off just to see if it loads up then. 'I am the danger'...Hiesenberg NRA Certified Pistol Instructor NRA Certified Rifle Instructor NRA Life Member

Head on over to https://ipcamtalk.com/ and look in the Foscam Forum. Lots of info there. What a FRICKEN nightmare. I do not recommend Foscam Cameras. But, Thanks to all the advise given. I am up and running on the MAC. It took an email to support in China, yes really China, but the long story short was to paperclip re-boot the camera, re-install the wi-fi, re-boot my MAC and use their VMS app. I mentioned doing this to the Amazon NERD guy who came out but he popoed the idea. I had a foscam before and worked great on my MAC over the internet connection. Could view and take pictures (used in an Owl nest box) This new camera had to be set up on Foscams MAC App so it's a little trickier to navigate and find pictures but at least it is usable now. Now to get it up in the nest box! 'I am the danger'...Hiesenberg NRA Certified Pistol Instructor NRA Certified Rifle Instructor NRA Life Member
