Thanks for sharing the photo, and for the link. As you said, lots of really impressive photos in that gallery. I voted for yours.
Good luck!

Wow! Amazing photo! I was in the Blackhills/Badlands back in 2019. Amazing part of the country! You've got my vote!

I gave you a vote. There were some others I also liked very much, but we SF folks need to stick together.

Done! Yours is excellent. Second choice would have been the Northern Lights.

Done, alot of great pictures, always thought the Badlands was more dramatic at sunrise and sunset, mid day sun always washed the colors out

My wife absolutely loves the Badlands and we finally had a chance to go there a couple of years ago and I fell in love with it as well. We have been back 2 additional times. Your photograph truly captures the spirit of the land.

bald1, I completely forgot I was out in your stomping grounds and thanks for your vote.

Here's one I'll share that I'm sure you are familiar with after spending hours behind your telescope setup. This is just a portion of the shot I took of Orions Belt on Christmas Night with my Sony A7R IV, 300mm lens mounted to a star tracker.

This is 60, 1-minute exposures stacked in Starry Sky Stacker and then processed in Photoshop. This was my second attempt at Orion and wanted to take another shot at it but the weather didn't cooperate and I'll have to wait until October to start trying again.

Craig, very very nice! Stunning! You certainly have the eye and touch. Big Grin
I never got into astrophotography.
That said the closest was with an Astrovid StellaCam II with a Mogg 0.6x focal reducer. Here with an Intes-Micro MN56 5" f/6 Maksutov-Newtonian on an EQ6.
It would stack 256 images and be fed into a 10" B&W 800 line monitor for group viewing. Haven't used it now in too many years.

You definitely got my vote. What a beautiful photo!

I also liked 'Curious in Custer', but it lost something when I expanded the cropped version.

Agreed. Beautiful on a 65 inch 4K HDR.

Craig, do you have a higher definition version of your image we might be able to download?

I usually don't follow links to other sites but I just went to this one. There are some amazing pics on there but yours is simply the best and you got another vote. It would make a great wallpaper for someone's computer.

I do have higher resolution versions of the image but I would rather not distribute them or have them available online at this time for download. Just trying to protect the rights to the image.

Completely understand. No problem at all. Thanks for responding though. Smile

sigfreund, I'm OK with this one you've posted.

I just got home and took a look and right now I'm sitting on top with a 58 point lead. Thank you to all that have gone out to the sight and voted even if it wasn't for mine. All votes are appreciated.

The contest ends sometime Monday morning. Hopefully I can maintain the lead.

Thanks again everyone

I gave you a vote, and not just to do it...yours is truly my favorite. Congrats on a beautiful capture and composition! Thanks for the link, too. We've done numerous vacations out in the Badlands and Black Hills and scrolling through the pics brought back a lot of great memories. I've stood right in that area where you took your photo....what a gorgeous place, especially at sunrise and sunset!

Well scrolled til I found yours and voted for it since you're a SF brother. I very much like your picture, but there are plenty of great pictures on there so it's interesting to look through.

ETA Realized I could thumb up whatever pictures I wanted to went back and slapped some thumbs on some of the other pictures as well haha but already thumbed yours.
