Somewhere last week I got white paint splashed down the side of my 4Runner. I have tried everything except hypnosis to figure out where. No luck there.

Anyway, I’ve googled and tried every chemical suggested with either no or very little results.
So far that included: WD40, Pro strength Goof Off and bug & tar remover. Goof off worked a *little* but it would take days using it and my back can’t handle that. I might add that a detail fella I’ve used quoted $1000 to start with no guarantees.

I’m sure this has happened to one of y’all before, any suggestions?

Wow, your detail guy said 1k with no guarantees? Is it all over both sides? My initial thought would be some buffing with maybe a compound cleaner and then if that works, a glaze and a wax?

I’m on Amazon buying it now. Thank you, I hope it does the trick.

Edit: Amazon does not carry it but I’ll happily buy from the website.

Thanks again!

Here is a "how to" video from a guy who owns a detail shop and has been detailing cars professionally 20+ years. I've learned a ton from his videos over the years.

Not cheap, but it will work. Be sure to not rush the process, and follow the instructions. I was able to remove yellow line paint from my in-laws brand new dark gray metallic Honda Pilot without any problems. Looks like it never happened.

That’s *AWESOME*. I’ll gladly pay $70 for a bottle.

Thanks everybody

Well, that's kinda vague. What exactly does this stuff do?

It gets off the clean road paint. For the dirty road paint, you're on your own! Razz

It's been a week, so the paint is already dry.
Hand Sanitizer and elbow grease works.

Do the instructions include what PPE to wear; washing instructions afterward; and reapplying a wax, sealant, or coating afterward?

I looked on the website and there wasn't a MSDS sheet which is a bit disappointing. Competitors such as goof off include a MSDS on their website so the user can see that it what is in it ((i.e. Goof Off contains acetone, light distillates, xylene, etc), the PPE to wear, what to do in case of spill, etc.

Order or buy a clay bar and some quick detailing spray to use as a lubricant.

Check some youtube videos. I've been shocked at what it will remove from paint. Overspray, rail dust and other unwanted trash that is stuck or embed into your clearcoat.

Go Clean has a refund policy so I’m happy to try it and the butter method in Tatortodd’s video recommendation. I’ll update with results when it gets here.

The CAUTION on the bottle calls the product a mild eye and skin irritant.

Road paint sets a tack in 90 seconds if it’s heated. It’s drivable in about 5-6 minutes. The only way I’ve been able to remove it without damaging paint underneath is with very hot pressure washing or the environmentally safe fluids you would find in a heated parts washer (Safety Kleen comes to mind). You might try to look up road marking paint manufacturers and ask their advice. The stuff is hell on cars. Good luck.

Did you get it on the highway or city street? City I worked for used a latex based paint with glass beads. State uses thermoplastic. Paint will come off. Thermoplastic won’t.
