I did for years when my kids were home. I liked the mortars and big rockets. The little bottle rockets and black cats became just a waste of time. And I made my homemade oxygen bombs, fill a big hefty bag with oxygen pour in an ounce or two of gasoline, tie
it off and roll up a piece of newspaper for the fuse. As loud as the M-80's you could get back in the day.

PatriotI like a formal show…visually appealing… but just making noise…louder is better…firm pass. Never understood the point, it’s just fucking annoying.

egregoreOK to watch from afar. I don't like them being set off yards from my front door around midnight.

Those who can least afford it, usually.

Same here. My dogs don't like it either.

PHPaulI'm in the "it's just annoying" camp. I rue the day Maine legalized fireworks for general use.
ONE major show, conducted by professionals, on July 4th, great.
Every swinging dick with $20 and a match making noise at all hours for a couple of weeks (if not more) either side of the holiday? Fuck that.
My next door neighbors are summercators from Massivetushies. The owners are nice enough folks, but their annual visitors are inconsiderate assholes. Thankfully, it's usually only a week of noise every night as soon as it gets dark enough.
I grit my teeth and let it go. No good can come of discussing it with them.
Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

scratchyI live 4 blocks from the big suburbia display. No point in doing my own, plus, this place is a desert.

Fly-SigDislike! Our dogs have always been frightened by them. When I had to get up early for work it really ruined my day.
We're so lucky that later in July we have Pioneer Day and get another several days of fireworks.

flesheatingvirusI used to do it professionally, so have no issue passing on it. I see no reason to spend money on it. Plus, there are usually restrictions on aerial shells out here because of fire.

nhtagmemberI would like to but the risk of starting a woodland fire is just too high.

HRKUsed to go big time, spent a ton of money, then partnered up with neighbors, got to the point we were building up launch tubes on 2x4's and using ignition cord to setup things.
Dog hated them trembled all night, worse when she was older for her.
Not so much as before but we'll light off some mortars and some of the mortar box sets, kids love it

ZSMICHAELNot a fan. Was against the law where I grew up. A short display is fine, but no need to go on for days. A friend of mine with PTSD despises them as does the dog. I have seen first hand injuries with missing fingers. No thanks.
