Headed to Annapolis to drop my son off for youth lacrosse camp at the Naval Academy. Looking for some good restaurant suggestions in the area. Thanks!

Highly recommend Cantler's Riverside Inn for steamed crabs.

We saw this place featured years ago on Diners Drive Ins and Dives and went there while in Annapolis some time back and thought it was pretty good. Owned and run by a guy from Ireland:

Galway Bay Irish Restaurant & Pub

You’re going to have to narrow things down.

What kind of menu? Are you talking downtown (historic district - where the Academy is), or might you drive a few minutes to go to lunch?

Galway Bay is excellent.

For more casual eats, there’s a relatively new Thai place on Main Street. It’s really good, but I forget the name.

If you want a local experience, go to Chick & Ruth’s. Classic diner on Main Street. It is the quintessential local hangout. Everyone famous goes there - local celebrities and visiting dignitaries. Get a six lb. shake.

For Indian, the best is Basmati - not downtown, about 5 minutes back into modern Annapolis.

Same with Mexican. You’ll want to go to Jalapeños for that. Also just a couple of minutes out of downtown.

If you want actual crabs, the best are going to be just over the bridge on Kent Island. But for crab cakes, the aforementioned Chick & Ruth’s or the Boatyard in Eastport (walking distance from downtown).

When are you coming? I’m always happy to buy the first round for a SigForum member.

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

BurtonRW nailed my go-tos.

Here's a really good steakhouse in Eastport called Lewnes's. http://lewnessteakhouse.com/wordpress/

If you are a foodie, Preserve, on Main Street is excellent: https://preserve-eats.com/dinnermenu

The Point restaurant is about a twenty minute drive from Annapolis and has good seafood. Try the cream of crab soup. https://www.thepointcrabhouse.com/

Davis' Pub in Eastport is our favorite place for steamed shrimp and crabcakes. A little hole in the wall bar with a neighborhood feel.
