Help me identify a USMC Medal
Going through my late grandmother's jewelry box with my mother, we found this EGA with what I think is a motorcycle unit insignia. I haven't found anything matching it on the internet. I believe it belonged to my grandmother's second husband, who was in WWII and was big into motorcycles before and after the war. I remember him but he died from cancer when I was nine or ten.

Anyone know what this is?

Respectfully I do not believe that to be an issued Marine Corp medal or unit designator. Unlike the Army (not a dig) the Corps is not big on swag.

You should have seen the outrage when we had to put our names on our blouses after 1990.

It's not an official USMC medal or badge. Most likely some sort of private purchase/commemorative item.

Is it pin-on, or something like a tie clip?

I concur with the above.

Looks to be a "Sweetheart Pin". If you do a Google Image search, you'll find several different examples.

Bingo.

Nothing identical, but you can see how a number of them consist of EGAs suspended under various types of bows.

And here's one with an EGA stacked on top of a nearly identical bow:

This makes sense...I appreciate the help, and it explains why I couldn't find a picture of one.

I also have his 1938 (I think it was) second place medal from a motorcycle race. Pretty cool.

Ho-lee shit. I had a Sergeant Major that went ballistic in front of everybody over this. His name was SGT Maj Joseph Rufree. He was a former Force Recon guy, and I clearly remember his words in formation "Who the fuck do they think we are? The fucking Navy? We don't need tags on the back of our cammie pants so our "shipmate" knows who he is fucking".
