Don't think a scare bus goes quite .90 .85 maybe..... Either way, it wouldn't be pretty if it hit that balloon. That sound was impressive. "Someday I hope to be half the man my bird-dog thinks I am." looking forward to 4 years of TRUMP!

Not to derail this thread but why do Airbus engines sound so differently that those hanging off of Boeing jets? I'm not sure who manufactures them but I find the "whine" they produce at full-throttle to be quite annoying. JP

Probably on a trip |
Engines are not Airbus or Boeing-specific. Each airline can order their jets with engines from Whichever manufacturer they want. Although these days that means GE, Pratt and Whitney or Rolls-Royce. This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears above ground he is a protector. Plato

Who else? |
CFM International. That was a Delta Airbus A319. They use CFM56's. About 2/3 of all A319, A320 and A321 aircraft use a variant of the CFM56 engine.

I love watching the big birds coming in and out of CVG. Favorites are the Polars and DHL. They aren't going fast and those Polars look like they just hang there in the sky. I think one of the other large birds is Allegis. Now we are seeing many Amazon flights. I've viewed 1 beautiful South West bird.

Just an ACARS message with feelings |
If n A320 is going .90 mach then something is wrong. They normally cruise at .80 at most. My 747-400F normally flies at .84 and high speed cruise can be as high as .88. Whale for the win! David Lee- Those Polar/DHL 747's are the ones that my company operates, We also operate most of the Amazon and DHL jets that you see out there as well. ____________________________ 220/229/228/226/P6/225/XO/SP2022/239

Yeah, I'm aware they don't manufacture the engines but whatever Airbus is using on the A319 irritates the hell out of me! Skip to the 4:50 mark in the video below... Link to original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RAX7_1rQAU JP

Had a 'Super' on the same track while flying a NCA route in Northern Canada the other day. Even though he was 2000' above I wanted some distance from potential wake(upwind offset). He eventually peeled of for NYC or somewhere East. It's kinda funny when the F/A dings & says a passenger thought we were to close to that aircraft, as if we had no clue who was where.

Oh, the food processor/blender noise. C-5s have a similar sound. Whenever a C-5 flies over (rarely, unfortunately ), I can recognize it for its sound. But, as stated, that should be an 'engine thing,' not an 'Airbus thing.' . . Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

I've been wrong before, but I always thought those '47s were going as fast as anything else, if not faster, in the arrival area and that they only looked slow because they are so big.

If you didn't like the sound the CFM56 makes, then you definitely don't want to sit next to a RR Trent 892 on a 777. The sound of the fan at TO wasn't bad, but when it throttled back to climb power, the compressor whining actually made me nauseous - And I love hearing the big ones roar.

Other than to record passing airliners, why would you have sound on a weather balloon? I think I saw in the video a ~390 MPH speed for the jet. That's about .055 second reaction time should something go amiss. Not to mention the turbulence in the wake of that thing. I'm surprised it didn't flip the balloon over. ———- Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for thou art crunchy and taste good with catsup.
