I've been looking at different shotguns for clay shooting. In my searches I come across many in UK.
What is involved in importing a shotgun (O/U) and what are the fees like.
I have contacted several gun shops in the UK, they tell me they have exporters they deal with but have not mentioned the costs involved.

For you that have been there, done that, what was your experience.

What brand? When I visited the Holland and Holland gun room in London they told me they would ship to one of their dealerships in the US. They did not mention cost of shipping, I guess they figured if I could afford one of their shotguns the shipping cost did not matter. My gosh those were beautiful guns, but outside my reach. If you want a bespoke shotgun maybe check their U.S. dealers, most of them have dealerships in the U.S.

Briley, in Houston, sells old English guns. I’d call them, and ask.

Kirk Merrington, in Kerrville, may also know.

there was a thread recently in the handgun section on importing,

I've not done it, but did do a transfer for a guy that had a SIG brought in thru MMB out of Maryland,

good people to deal with,

I sold a Valmet combo gun to a guy in Canada a few years ago,
he used an exporter that IIRC was in Detroit, or close,

I cannot remember the name, but if I get a chance tomorrow I can look thru my bound book and see

I inquired about importing a shotgun from Boss & Company, London.

They said the export licensing at their end was around £850. At this end its at least a few hundred dollars.

I'd look domestically first. There are lots of fine shotguns available in the US.

Just running this by you, this company in Galesburg, Ill, carries upper and lower end shotguns, they may or may not have what you are looking for. I've done business with them in the past (ordering 2 shotguns) for a friend, and they have been excellent, although a little pricey.

Try Johnson Firearms in Miami FL. sales@johnsonfirearms.com

They are a firearms importer/exporter.

I believe they charge $399 for not more than two guns.

If I was an American, living in America, and wanted an example of the finest shotguns ever made, I'd be buying a pre-1942 gun made by the Parker Brothers.

Yes, MMB is who you should check out before having it shipped. They keep you well informed, send you a copy of all documents, and have discreet (mandatory) import markings.

If you think you may be able to find one stateside, but this one may be cheaper, you may be better served buying one through a US dealer anyway.

My Sig P220s took eight months to go through customs from Italy.
