I’m going to be heading to Turks and Caicos in a little over a month. I’ve never been there before but the pics look nice and I’ve heard good things. What are some fun things to do and places to see while I’m on the islands?

Thanks!

Eat, sleep, drink, sun, swim, dive, fish, hike, golf, tennis, shop, screw... you know, go on a Caribbean vacation!

More seriously, the thing I like to do best at any Caribbean location is to find a decent skin diving tour and go reef diving. I am not scuba certified, but have been skin diving all my life, including spearfishing, conch diving and spiny lobstering. There is simply nothing like diving in crystal clear water, surrounded by the colors of fish and coral that you only ever saw as a kid watching Jacques Cousteau. Pro tip: wear a dive shirt. The sunburn you can get on your back and shoulders snorkeling in the Carib is impressive, and can be enough to ruin a vacation.

Which island are you going to?
Any water sports you want to do will be fantastic. The water is beautiful. The beaches have some of the finest sand anywhere and the people are very friendly.

Some places offer a glow worm cruise if the time is right...kinda neat!

My favorite vacation spot in the whole world is Pine Cay in the T&C but it is remote and there are virtually no connections to the outside world (just the way I like it!)

Haven't you noticed all those soft-core Beaches/Sandals commercials? Those three are clearly the pitch, not in that order however.

There is world class SCUBA diving there, if you do that. If not, for sure go snorkeling. The fishing is excellent. Bonefishing for sure.

It depends on what you like. It is pretty laid back at night. There is at least one casino, if not more (I saw two, but could not confirm if the second was open).

Diving is world class. Snorkeling is great: turtles every morning right off the beach at Coral Gardens Hotel on Providenciales. Snorkeling tours also widely available.

Note--it is expensive there. Meals are very high. Are you going as a couple? If so, make reservation at Coco Bistro as soon as you arrive--they had ONE reservation available for our 8 day trip. (I just returned.)

Rent a car--much cheaper than taxis. Grace Bar Car Rentals is highly rated, and cheaper than the others.

Go to Bugaloo's for the conch (or Da Conch Shack).

Grace Bay Beach is the often ranked the best in the world, so enjoy it.

They have jet skis and parasailing too.

Golf is an option.

I did a private island drop-off 10 years ago--dropped off on a private island with drinks and lunch. We were the only ones on a huge beach all day. Was very cool.

PM me if you want more info. Also read the TripAdvisor Turks and Caicos forum.

Just got back from there on Sunday. Pretty much stayed on the beach as I was just looking to relax and enjoy what I think is the greatest beach I have ever seen. I stayed on Grace Bay. This was my 4th time. Didn't go snorkeling this year as the hurricane mostly messed up the good sites. Bugaloos for lunch is a great idea. Played two rounds of Golf at Provo which was in great shape. Take a party boat(Caicos Dreams, I think) excursion to iguana island. Did a lot of drinkin Eek

ETA, I don't recommend renting a scooter. The drivers there don't respect them and the roads are covered in sand making it a little treacherous.

When my wife and I (though at the time she wasn't yet my wife) were on Eleuthera, we had margaritas for breakfast. Dang right we did.

Eleuthera is my next destination. I hear the bonefishing and snorkeling are fantastic. Killer beaches too.

Don’t. Go to harbor island which is 2 miles east of north Eleuthera. Eleuthera has very little on it. You fly into north Eleuthera and take a $5 5 minute water taxi across. Harbor island has terrific beaches Andy restaurants as well as the other things you’re looking for. Eleuthera has next to nothing on it or to do.

I heard the fishing here is incredible so we went deep sea fishing today. It was pretty windy today and the Boston Whaler 320 Outrage we were on took a few waves over the bow. I thought it was AWESOME unfortunately my wife didn’t have nearly as much fun.

I caught two grouper and a trigger fish. Someone else on the boat caught a barracuda. It was probably not ideal conditions for fishing but it was fun.

It’s been 6 plus hours since getting off the boat and I still feel like I’m on that Boston whaler rocking back and forth. Big Grin

I agree that the Bahamas/Turks/Caicos are amazing for scuba diving and/or snorkeling, but they are in the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean.
