What does everyone here like for Christmas tree stands? For cut real trees?

We usually go to a local tree farm every Black Friday and cut one but this year it was very cold and windy and our little girl was getting cold and fussy so we just picked out a nice Fraser Fir that the farm brings in cut (they don’t grow here in PA) and got it home to set up.

I’m on the 5th year of a Swivel Straight tree stand which has worked well and I really like how it lets you get the tree straight and level right from the stand but as I was screwing the cup on (it uses a two piece system), I hear this big CRAAAAACK and find that one of the screw bolts has cracked the damn thing. I took 4 long drywall screws and just screwed it on to get me through this season but I’m done with this stand after this. Too many plastic parts that apparently don’t hold up.

I started looking at stands for next year and I’m thinking I’ll go with a Krinner, does anyone have one? Looks like it holds the tree very securely and it’s easy to use plus it holds 2.5 gal of water which is nice.

Here’s the Swivel Straight and the part that broke:

The Krinner is made in Germany and has five “claws” that grab the trunk and tighten from a foot pedal, seems like it’s got a lot of good reviews for being easy to use and secure. I’m done trying to tighten any sort of screws or bolts on a tree and this eliminates that:

We had the swivel stand prior to picking up the Krinner. Ours never broke, but the Krinner is a definite upgrade. Super easy to use and no issue getting a tight hold. Plus, it’s pretty heavy even before the water is added, no issue holding up a big tree. Go for it.

Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Complacency sucks…

I have the Krinner and have been using it for a couple years now. It’s better than anything with a screw system for sure.

The real trick is finding a tree with a straight trunk.

I have had a Krinner for a couple of years and it works well. It has a float to tell the water level, but it quit working last year. It is well built and quite sturdy.

That said, I have had one of These for many years. If the Krinner breaks, I would start using this one again.
