Eh, in some cases, such alerts make sense - more for tropical disease centers, etc.

And Ebola really is a world-ender, if it hits the right place - O'Hare, Heathrow, etc.

Same as the nastier flu strains.

Flu is what gives biochemists nightmares. The 1917 flu in the modern era, is a "lights out" event.
