This is the first year we've had this problem in our lawn. What's the best course of action for getting rid of it? Right now it's contained to about a 6'x12' area. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 4x5,

First you have to dig up the casket. Then send the ring to Dave Truong.
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I was wondering which "ring" and was almost afraid to open the thread and find out.

Thought he was going to tell us his ring finger was dying because the ring is too tight or his body is physically rejecting marriage.

I was hesitant to look.
A guy I worked for as an apprentice mechanic once touched a crescent wrench between his wedding ring and a car fender while loosening the positive batter terminal with the negative cable still connected to the battery.
The wrench ended up welded to 1/2 inch, painted red, and labeled battery wrench. He gave it to me the first time he had me work on a car, told me the story, showed me the finger.
I don't think I'll ever forget.

Get some PATCH PRO. It is a fungicide. Your grass roots have a fungus and its common in your area.
If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

It's important to correctly identify the disease as either necrotic ring spot or fairy ring. Though they may appear similar, treatment is different.
Timing seems to be more correct to fairy ring, in which case nitrogen is the most practical approach to mask the dark green circle that forms.
Necrotic ring spot is a may - August disease. Avoid nitrogen with this disease.
Treatments for both are more aligned with management, rather than curative, due to cost and variability of the diseases. For necrotic ring, you can seed these areas with Perennial Rye because it is resistant to NRS. Though you will notice a color difference when compared to Bluegrass. If your lawn is feacue, and not bluegrass, then it's unlikely that you have NRS. Overseeding with rye for fairy ring managent is tough because the dying turf is due to a thick, water-impermeable fungal later in the soil. You can aerify this area to improve moisture penetration to revive turf.

Can you post a picture of the affected area? That would help.

The fungus kills of the grass at ground level, with the circles or semicircles gradually getting larger. The grass will come back, but the fungus is recurring as well. It will screw up the entire yard.
I am currently attacking it with two products, Bayer Fungus Control granules and DOW Eagle 20EW Fungicide.
