gjgalliganContacting congress critters
With all the hot topics these days I would stress the importance of everyone expressing their views & opinions to their elected officials no matter what party they are.
PLEASE DO IT EARLY & OFTEN.

PR64My critter is Erick Swalwell.
I’ve contacted him several times over the years and all I ever get back is fundraising emails.
He sucks…

hrcjonDo you think email messages do anything. I write them all the time and my critters are very polite and always send me a reply (I assume written by some intern) that basically is worthless. I'm unclear if they care about this contact point.

95flhrI send many, one senator here in VA does not respond to anything, the other sends the same form letter no matter what the subject is.

gjgalliganI think for SOME office holders numbers may make a difference in how they think.
It may not totally change their minds on any given subject but maybe they might soften their stand.
If the numbers of contacts from voters starts to show unhappiness then they might start to get worried about reelection.
Here in Michigan we have Gary Peters, he is not going to run for reelection in 26. Why, no reason announced. Slotkin just took Debbie Stabanow's senate seat but the margin was reported as close.
Maybe Peter's sees the writing on the wall?
It is kinda like if you don't vote you shouldn't complain.
It doesn't take much time to shoot off an Email or leave a message by phone. Heck, you can do that while taking your daily dump.

uvahawkMy limited experience here in SC and in Virginia, where I formerly resided, is the same as described in the other postings here. Lucky to get a reply, if you do, it is a form letter or email addressing an unrelated topic. So-called "Constituent Service" is long gone.

ArtieSRepresentatives are typically more responsive then senators, as they have to be elected more often.

This has been my experience as well.
It does not appear from the reply that my letters are even read. The reply is always a previously-prepared position statement on the issue in question, never are the specifics of my arguments addressed whether they are in line with the office holder's position or not. These replies are followed by never-ending pleas for campaign contributions from the candidate, his political party, and political allies running for some other office.
Not that I am under the illusion that the office holder ever actually sees my communication, but rather that they have staff assigned to this function. Perhaps this staff also prepares a summary of how many pro/anti submission are received, but I kind of doubt it because that would imply that they actually care.

Yessir. Exactly.
Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.
