He should have done this years ago. Simply a political stunt at this point. https://www.breitbart.com/poli...eculation-next-move/ https://twitter.com/Sen_JoeMan.../1796547335767671199 _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Wait, what? |
Sorry Manchin, it doesn’t matter what skin you cloak yourself in, you’re a traitor to the people of WV and the country at large. Enjoy your imminent obscurity- one can only hope you still had political hopes, dreams, and aspirations that are now over. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Yes, a little late, may not amount to much, but I’ll still take it. Of course better if he just went to the other side. Both chambers are so close, any movement towards our favor is good. Yes, his career is waning & all that.

Welcome to the dust bin of history. Like john mccain, you had your chance to make a difference with your vote and you went with the America destroyers. Thanks for nothing.

He had an opportunity to stand up for the people of WV that elected him yet he sold them out for personal gain. He knows he's unelectable so he it doesn't matter that he jumped ship from the democrat party.

If he was really serious he would have changed to the Republican Party to actually make a statement. Becoming an independent changes nothing.

Why now? I don't think it really means anything, other than he wants to free himself from the Democrats after he leaves the Senate after this year... From the article, above: By continuing to caucus with Democrats, Manchin can continue chairing the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. However, the timing of Manchin’s announcement, less than 24 hours after a Manhattan jury found former President Donald Trump guilty on 34 counts for falsifying business records, fuels speculation about his next move. Manchin could opt to run for a third Senate term as an independent. Potential candidates for West Virginia’s Senate seat reportedly must declare themselves a member of a political party by June 1 to run in November under that party’s banner. Candidates have until August 1 to declare their intent to run: Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV), himself a former Democrat, is the Republican nominee for the Senate seat Manchin is vacating, decisively winning a contested primary. Justice would be a tough opponent for Manchin, who has held office as a Democrat even as West Virginia has shifted massively towards Republicans. Manchin has also flirted with the possibility of a presidential run. He has criticized President Joe Biden for hostility towards American energy and refusing to fix the border crisis that is “his fault.” And he previously expressed interest in launching a candidacy on the “No Labels” ticket, particularly if Biden had a “health scare.” Yet Manchin announced in February he “will not be seeking a third-party run” and “will not be involved in a presidential run.” Any opening for Manchin – or anyone else – to win as a third party or independent candidate is miniscule. The dust has yet to settle after the Manhattan jury’s monumental verdict; however, Trump’s monumental fundraising in the hours after the verdict – overwhelming traffic shut down the GOP’s online fundraising platform Thursday evening – suggests Trump might consolidate or even grow his support. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

So what has changed? He no longer has a "D" after his name? I have always thought the D stood for dumb ass, and in Manchin's case it still applies. This means nothing in the Senate but it opens the way for an Independent run for governor in West Virginia since he had to declare affiliation by June 1. He still has time to watch the polls and decide. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

Exactly. Saw this last night, and I had to laugh at this SOB. He just wanted attention. "Hey, look at me, y'all. I'm trying to be still relevant." FUCK.YOU. Q

Internal polling must be absolutely abysmal in WV for Democrats. This looks like he's planning to run for Governor and is trying to nominally distance himself from the Democrats to get through the election. He's going to bring WV more of the same, and he'll always caucus D on the big ticket issues.

He is filthy rich. I guess he wants more power. He has no chance running for the Presidency. Reminds me of a washed up high school football coach.

I wouldn't want to be a Democrat in West Virginia either. He's still the same Joe though.

Wonder what the straw was that broke the camel's back. It only took him about 40 years to finally figure out he didn't want to be a dem. Real quick learner that one.

Yep like most of them he made his fortune in politics. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Nothing to do with "didn't want to be a dem". Putting an "I" next to your name doesn't change a damn thing. He still caucuses with the rats. So, still a rat. Just like comrade Bernie. Q
