Some danged animal is in the attic. I can hear it and see paths through the insulation. It seems be circling around the edges trying to get out. I put some Ratt-X, and poison and traps up there. I did find any obvious holes.

Which is a good not too expensive wifi camera for observing the critter?

Wyze, especially the v4 if you can run power to it and use a sim card.

If you have a spare ring camera, that would work.
If not, ask a buddy who hunts and see if they have an extra.

Yeah, a squirrel would be high on the list. One may get an idea by the cover, trees, & sightings you have around the house.

You could step up the traps to a small leghold or a 110 Conibear/Duke type trap. You may already have a strong ‘rat trap’, another option.

No need to get to hung up on bait, if they have a defined trail, should be good enough.

Just buy a small cage trap, bait it with peanut butter and it shouldn't take you long to capture whatever is in your attic but my bet would be squirrels and if one is up there you can bet there's a dozen or more making your attic their home. You'll have to find out how they're getting in and seal the entrance and relocate the squirrels several miles away or they'll find their way back and take up residence in your attic. My girlfriends brother had a bunch in his attic and my uncle had them invade his attic and I had a problem when one decide the wheel well of my truck would be a great place to make a nest.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Not in the attic, but I have several pan/tilt and they record 24/7. When you playback from the SD card through the App, you will see times there was motion seen in the timeline.

Have you tried the sticky pad traps ?
