2BobTannerI know everyone always makes fun of curling, but there is an aspect of it that is mental. Combination of geometry and physics, with a lot of strategy.
At the 2026 Winter Olympics, the U.S. mixed doubles curling team of Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin has started with a perfect 4-0 record, marking the best start for a U.S. curling team in Olympic history. They defeated Norway (8-6), Switzerland (7-4), Canada (7-5), and Czechia (8-1).
They take on undefeated Great Britain and South Korea on Saturday, and Estonia and Sweden on Sunday.

Expert308Downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom, Ski jumping, Bobsled/Luge, mostly because of the higher speeds and because wipeouts can be spectacular. Biathlon because, well, guns.

corsairLooking forward to seeing how they do ski-mountaineering, which is the newest addition to the games. Skimo is rapidly gaining popularity here in the US, as Cam Smith is the most decorated American.

Just curious, where would someone find a curling facility in the U.S. to watch and/or learn?

Jordan Stolz. He's an amazing talent.

pbslingerAn Irish skier just finished almost 13 seconds behind the leader in the Men's downhill. Wonder if he rented his skis.

The Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City. My BIL lives outside of SLC and we have gone for lessons a couple of times. A great family outing.
https://utaholympiclegacy.org/activity/learn-to-curl/FWIW, this Olympics used this site in 2002 and will use it again in 2034.
Let me help you out. Which way did you come in? February 07, 2026, 07:52 AM

I would search the internet for curling clubs in Florida. Oh look! The first result is
Loggerhead Curling Club, South Florida’s only curling club. I cheated though because I knew the facilities are called curling clubs. When we belonged to one in Wisconsin, they were basically social drinking clubs somewhere between a country club and the Moose Lodge. We competed in bonspiels at other clubs in Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Might be a distant relative to "Eddie the Eagle" -- the British ski jumper.

I've only done curling once and it was in Anchorage, AK. The local curling club's facility was approx. a 1:1 size ratio of bar to ice rink. Kind of like a bowling alley, but the lanes replaced with an ice rink for curling.

GustoferI like watching figure skating but hate the subjective scoring system. Too many excellent skaters get robbed for silly shit.
I still can't figure out how they can do that spinning thing without getting dizzy.

irreverentIce hockey.
Also, I’m keeping an eye out for Ilia Malinin. Men’s figure skating. Today.
Guy can do a quad axel and does flips like he’s on solid ground. He’s amazing.
