konata88Hennessey VelociRaptorR 1000
I don't get it. What's good about it? And why would anyone buy one? I really don't understand. I must be stupid.

They are painted (which is technically a coating) what more would you want and why?
Painted? Yes. No bare metal to be found, but a thin layer of white paint for stray rocks on an off road masterpiece? My OCD is worse than that.
Seems that maybe an undercoating or spray on bedliner style material would be better idea. At the very least, a can of black Krylon runs about $12.
I can see it looking half put together if it came from Enterprise as a rental, but this is supposed to be the top-notch-super-duper-super-Raptor.
If this coating was omitted to reduce weight (unlikely) then a regular cab truck as a conversion point would save them about 800 to a thousand pounds.
'...but all Raptors are quad cabs' some will say. At this price point, how custom could Hennessey not want to be?
I get it. Fords are supposed to cost more. That is why the $600,000 Mustang is slower than a $120,000 Corvette.

PGTThey make a similar version of the RAM TRX called the Mammoth 1000. Saw a silver one two years ago with 30 day tags on it

BOATTRASH138supersigs response is spot on. Its a thin coat of paint. My new GMC 2500 HD has wheel well liners and it was a hell of a lot less money.

True. It would also look as if they were done with it. Not just 'good enough' passed along during production.
Wheel well liners as BOATTRASH1 has mentioned would be just right for such a high end purpose built off roader.

For people who have more money than sense. Or more
credit than sense. But it does haul ass.

Does this thing actually have some real upgrades? For nearly a quarter mil, it better blow me at stop lights.
