I set out to buy one some years ago; found a couple on CalGuns but deals fell through. I found myself with a wood stock and maybe another barrel, I forget. A .270 would have been my preference. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

I think the Mosquitos got thrown and cussed so often no one probably has one by now I have a Mosquito that jams often enough. I'll never send it back for repair, nor will I sell it! Why? It's an excellent pistol to teach pistol problems: failure to feed, failure to eject, stovepipes, etc. Being a .22, most students will quickly learn how to clear a malfunction safely without the headache of a large caliber, stiff slides, etc. Look on the bright side of a malfunctioning pistol if you're an instructor!!!

We shoot our Mosquito almost every weekend! Couldn’t even estimate the round count, it’s high, runs like a top with MiniMags. What about the first edition, fish gilled, Sig 556?! Circa 2009?

I was able to trade around and get a P226 that was made in 22lr from Sig. It has a UU serial, so I didn't think I'd see another if I passed on it. I haven't.

It's all part of the adventure... |
I purchased my fish gill Sig 556 in 2007. I actually just took it out a couple weeks ago again to sight in the scope I put on it. Also, I have a P224 in .40. Sold off my Mosquito years ago. Don't need or want any gun that rivals a lowball Jennings as an example on how badly a company can bugger up the concept of reliability. I've owned my 970 for about a decade now; in fact the pittance I got from the sale of my Mosquito went towards that purchase. It's been a fine shooting gun but I've been looking for the .30-06 barrel for this one (it's got a .270 now), but the few examples I've come across over recent years had asking prices nearly as much as I paid for the rifle itself. I have both the 4" and 6" Trailsides; I came across the 4" first, then a good friend sold me his then-unfired 6" a little while later. Lovely shooting guns, but I admit that they haven't been shot much lately, particularly after picking my M41. Does anyone have the SSG 3000? I recall that rifle didn't stay in production very long. -MG

I own a sig P224 .40 SAS model and never had a problem with it. Yet. Although I wish I could find a mag with a pinky extension. They are pretty scare...never seen one come up for sale.

Don't Shop. Adopt. |
I had an Sig SSG3000 that was an import from Germany with the laminated wood stock and also had the factory .22LR conversion kit. Sold it off a while back. Haven't seen one with the same stock since then ______________________________________________ "Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever." - Karen Davison "Man can measure the values of his own soul in the look of the eyes of an animal he's helped" - Author Unkown

Honestly, I have never heard of the P290. I was about to ask if anyone has a German P250 instead. Thinking there may be a few P220s with BDA serials, but I've never heard of a BDA with a Sig serial. Have any of us seen such a thing?

I have a P290, still carry it now and again. My Mauser (SIG) M2 in .40 is what led me here years ago; it still gets a little bedside pistol duty.

I wanted a 290 when it came out! But handling one when they came out cured me. he one in the gun shop was a POS. Had to wigle the magazine to get it to seat!
