In any election, there are undoubtedly wishy-washy fence sitters. Even in one as controversial as this 2024 cycle. If exit poll reporters only target people who fit the profile of a supporter of candidate B, then their results are likely going to show a high turnout for said candidate. If they aren't inclined to put in that kind of actual effort, they can, of course, also just lie about their encounters outside the polling places.

In either case, when those wishy-washy yet-to-be voters read about the exit polls, they might have a conversation like:

"Gee, honey, it seems almost everyone is voting for candidate B. There's even folks voting for candidates C and D. Are we sure we're doing the right thing in voting for candidate A?"

Trump and his supporters are up against it at every turn. My wife and I are heading to the polling place in a few minutes, excited to cast our votes for a man and a team that align with our beliefs. God bless America!

Of course there is always the possibility that the "pollsters" simply lied about whatever results they obtained.

Let's all agree to ignore claims made by pollsters when it comes to controversial subjects, there are too many ways to get it wrong, either intentionally or not. Here at SF we can choose the higher road.

Very soon, a definitive "poll" will expose the errors, not to say that there won't be any attempted manipulation of the results.

In pollster speak, they don't "lie." They selectively choose which of those polled are telling the truth and only report those voters. Wink

The "wishy-washy fence sitters" are in the very small minority. This late into the game, voters have made up their minds, even those Independents, all who are suffering from the economy and the illegal invaders. IMO, those who hate Trump, but realize Harris is dumb as a rock and co-conspirator in ruining the country in the last four years, they will stay home and not vote.
