A few days ago, this watch had its initial launch into stores, with huge lines around the globe, people paying thousands for a place in line for this limited release. Retails for less than 300 bucks. Stores only had a few hundred in stock.

Here is a story on the launch- https://www.hodinkee.com/artic...-x-swatch-launch-day

Here is the Swatch link to show the different colors https://www.swatch.com/en-us/b...amic-moonswatch.html

IMO, look really cool for the price. I have an Omega Seamaster (2220.80), so this would fit right in. Swatch/Omega will have these in large quantities in a few weeks as online sales will start.

Ongoing discussion in the watch thread in the Gallery.

I'm quite interested in the Moon & Mercury models.

Saw that a few ebay listings were up around $7k (or the price of a real Speedy).

For $260, once the hype dies off & they come up for online sales, I could see picking one, maybe 2, up.

A real Moonwatch is probably a top 5, maybe top 3, want, watch-wise.

Link will flip thru the colors available: https://www.space.com/omega-sw...onswatch-speedmaster

Affordable with price quoted under $300, quartz movement, ceramic polymer case, color coordinated bands. Nice look. Swatch is owned by a major Swiss watch company and a quartz from them would be accurate.

It's a smart move building more customer base with a new demographic and price point that would likely never buy an Omega in time to keep the company afloat - ie watch sales world wide are great, expensive watches of the past generation have a owner demographic getting older, not younger. Like Corvettes, or Mustangs.

I really like the mission to the moon watch. I may pick one up at some point, once the hysteria dies down.

Mission to Uranus makes the sixth grader in me giggle.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Had no idea this would be in the Gallery. I only did a search in the Lounge.

Once the hype dies down, I will order one as well. I would love to get a real Speedmaster, but I decided awhile back to not spend thousands on a watch anymore.

Bit of buyer beware from another forum I'm on:
With Houston's humidity, this could be a concern.
Maybe alleviated with a NATO strap, since I believe they go under the caseback?

Not sure if this affects all models, or just he 'Skittles' colors Razz
Me, I'm eyeing the Moon & Mercury the most.

I absolutely love watches, but this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever witnessed. Talk about a marketing success over anything of substance as far as the product. And add to that the people who did score one of these watches at the release immediately flipping it online for two or three times retail. Insanity! Omega is one of my favorite brands, but I do not recognize these watches as Omega's, regardless what they print on the dial.

IMO these watches are just silly. Only thing missing is a Mickey Mouse or Pluto character on the dial or hands.

How about Marvin the Martian and a Q-36 Space Modulator model, that might do well....

Cool looking watch, they certainly captured the market with the offering..

People waited in line to buy it almost as long as the watch will last.

I posted almost every one of these new “MoonsWatches” in the gallery already. Big Grin

The prices they are going for on the fleabay are ridiculous.

“Mission to Uranus” is a very interesting name for a watch. In all seriousness it’s an attractive watch with an ehh maybe unfortunate name….

I want one, but there is not even a store around me.

Kudos to swatch making them only in person. Keeps all the online algorithms from owning them all. You still cant buy a PS5 in the store. Also, swatch has stated this is NOT a limited run, but they will be in stock for a while.

I will try for one when I am in Atlanta in June.
