This is what the Democrat party has become.
If you think this push for socialism is confined to the left coast, think again. Joe Biden is now cow-towing to these people:

Seattle Council Member Calls for Overthrow of ‘Racist, Sexist, Violent, Utterly Bankrupt System of Capitalism’

“We cannot and will not stop until we overthrow it and replace it with a world based instead on solidarity, genuine democracy, and equality – a socialist world.”

Seattle Councilwoman Ksghama Sawant, socialist, went on a crazy rant against Amazon after the council passed a payroll tax on big businesses.

Sawant is basically a female Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). No private businesses, housing, etc.

First off, background on the tax:

The narrowly tailored tax is aimed only at the city’s biggest businesses paying the highest salaries. It would spare small businesses and middle- and lower-class residents struggling to get by in a city where housing prices have continued to rise unabated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The council bill would provide for levies on an estimated 800 Seattle corporations at escalating rates. Companies with payrolls of $7 million to under $100 million would be subjected to a .7% rate on cumulative compensation of $150,000 to under $400,000 and 1.7% on compensation of $400,000 and above. Corporations with $100 million to under $1 billion payrolls would be taxed at a .7% rate on cumulative compensation of $150,000 to under $400,000 and 1.9% on compensation of $400,000 and above. Corporations with payrolls over $1 billion would be taxed 1.4% on compensation from $150,000 to under $400,000 and 2.4% on compensation of $400,000 or more.

To Sawant, this tax is the first step to building that socialist utopia where money grows on trees, the skies always have rainbows, and nobody is allowed to showcase a personality!

The Socialist Alternative website has the whole speech, but here’s the big part:

I have a message for Jeff Bezos and his class.

If you attempt again to overturn the Amazon Tax, working people will go all out in the thousands to defeat you.

And we will not stop there.

Because you see, we are fighting for far more than this tax, we are preparing the ground for a different kind of society.

And if you, Jeff Bezos, want to drive that process forward by lashing out against us in our modest demands, then so be it.

Because we are coming for you and your rotten system.

We are coming to dismantle this deeply oppressive, racist, sexist, violent, utterly bankrupt system of capitalism, this police state.

We cannot and will not stop until we overthrow it and replace it with a world based instead on solidarity, genuine democracy, and equality – a socialist world.

Sawant also had ideas for this utopia that Seattle can accomplish if they take advantage of this “energy.” She wants the city to release “all arrested protesters without charges, and to defund Seattle police by at least 50 percent, to stop the sweeps of homeless neighbors and fund tiny house villages, to win at least a thousand homes in the Central District for black working families.”

After all, “capitalism is completely incapable of meeting the most basic needs of working people.” Did Sawant not see the stores at the beginning of the pandemic? Sure the stores ran out of products, but it did not take long for stockers to fill the shelves again.

You know, unlike in Venezuela or Cuba.

^^^^ And... it's alarming that the Bernie Sanders supporters have effectively taken over Team Biden:

In a quest to woo back the unenthusiastic Bernie Sanders supporters, Team Biden has effectively turned all of Biden's proposed policies over to hardcore socialist Team Bernie. Biden presents the human face, Bernie presents the socialism - socialism with a human face, get it?

We have a phone appointment with our financial advisor this morning. I think he’s going to be shocked at what kind of plausible scenarios for the future I am contemplating, and asking for his advice on planning for.

These are things that, a year ago, I would have said were out of the question.

Who foresaw a Maoist cultural revolution financed and supported by giant tech companies, and propagated by the New York Times et al.?

Who seriously thought we might come to a shooting war between the Left and conservatives, or secession of red states from the union?

So what is this socialist piece of garbage going to do if those 800 corporations move totally out of Seattle?

Its a real shame what the Seattle City Council is proposing because I have visited Amazonia the name I was given for the old dilapidated part of Seattle that Amazon has been buying building by building and retrofitting for their employees. The area had restaurants, workers spending money it was really nice.

Amazon by itself has really invested in Seattle's downtown area with capital projects, so the trickle down has been construction jobs, supplies, permits, infrastructure improvements to water, gas electric for adjoining properties.

But these socialists dont recognize that and they are inclined to kill the golden geese. I hope many companies do leave, if I was a stockholder I would demand it.

sjtill...

I have also had a conversation with the financial planner about recent events.

What is your plan(s) should one of your trigger events occur. I am seriously interested.

Also... Thanks for getting Para to act on his medical issue.

Good ole Seattle. I migrated up there for work (the company I worked for at the time was based there in the suburbs) for a lateral move which would have been climbing the ladder long term. I knew within 2 weeks that I had made a mistake moving there. Took me 12 months to GTFO. Look at the repeated bullshit liberalism (Ultra left) coming out of the place.

Seattle / Olympia WA used to be one of my favorite work destinations - I have been traveling there 3-5 times a year for a week or two each time. I was almost always on those trips (perks of being in charge of the travel work, picking the good ones), but I have only done 1 week in the past 2 years, and that was because nobody else could do it.

It was always 'liberal' and weird area since I started going there (2010), but in an entertaining sort of way. The scenery was great, the outdoor activities / nearby National Parks were always fun and I often arranged travel to get a 1/2 day at one of them in the PacNW. Coffee shops everywhere, lots of great Asian food places, basically an enjoyable mini-vacation while on a work trip.

About 3 years ago I did a 2-week job and it was just obvious that the train had jumped the tracks, especially in Olympia (the state capital). Tweakers / druggies / homeless everywhere, dirty / filthy streets, homeless camps under all of the highways, panhandlers every block. Seattle wasn't much better and obviously following the same path. I drove to the beaches / Astoria and flew out of PDX and that area wasn't much better. It has obviously been going on awhile but it seemed much more open / in your face, even during the day.

That place is lost.

No, she's not. She's an avowed socialist and hater of America. She is emboldened by the likes of Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar, AOC and the "woke" crowd of the Democrat Party.

Which is gone, by the way. These radicals have learned they can't win by creating a new political party. No, they have infiltrated and co-opted the existing party, using its name to secure votes and leverage from the "asleep" lemmings they actually despise so much.

What amazes me is that people don't seem to hear what these people say. They aren't after "reforms" or these pleasant sounding sound bites. They want to collapse the system and replace it with their "workers paradise," in which they won't be workers -- they'll be the elite.

There is nothing new under the sun.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

They haven't taken the hint when companies packed up and left?

You think those in NY city were happy when the nitwit AOC caused Amazon to drop their bid? Now the city is hurting for decent jobs.

Orwell was prophetic, both in Animal Farm and in 1984. I understand at one time he was pro-socialism, until he saw the reality of Stalin.
