I think that's the crux of all of this. In past generations, it was vocal hostility and policies against anyone of an different sexual nature, never mind if they were competent-to-outstanding at their job, they needed to be removed.

Today's armed forces, its acknowledged that if you do your job, and do it well, that's all that matters. Unfortunately, there's a segment of leadership that believes pandering and catering are necessary. All sorts of awareness campaigns and 'activations' along with a menagerie of programs and directives are sent out making sure 'these people' are recognized. Thus, these individuals are not only being told they're now accepted but, lets hold them up for no reason other than they derive sexual pleasure with the same sex.

However, my son is at Parris Island as we speak. It’s not 6 weeks it’s 13.

I think don’t ask don’t tell was a reasonable compromise. Where we are now is sad. Nobody gives a shit who you like to fuck as long as it’s not kids. I draw the line at being force fed your ideology though.

I’m a civilian now and I equate it to this. I don’t want to hear what you did on your gay weekend and you don’t want to see naked pictures of my wife. How about we just keep our sexuality to ourselves? No celebrations of any kind other than the Navy’s (insert your service) birthday and the 4 of July, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and that’s about it.

It's the other way around. The general pool from which all the branches have to recruit from has moved to the left (if we define the characteristics that are described as woke as being on the left leaning end of the political spectrum.) The may want the least woke members of that cohort, but they
still need to make their numbers. And there are things that they care about more than sexual lifestyle as rule out factors (criminal background, illicit drug use, bad physical condition, insufficient intelligence, failed education, etc.).
