Gents. There is a decent possibility I could be picking up the new GSXR in its gorgeous GP colors. Realistically how much movement on price can I expect to see on the GSX-R1000R model? There is a dealer in Hampton roads that had one still in its crate.

What tips and recommendations to you have for buying a new moto?

I have bought several new bikes and have had friends who were salesman at bike dealerships. From my experience there is not much room for negotiating the price down, but you can definitely get them to throw in a good amount of merchandise such as a helmet, jacket, accessories, etc.

Even though we're going into the off season, there is still pretty good demand for that bike. If you get $500 off MSRP, I'd really be surprised, but it's been known to happen before. Swag and in house service are where the deals are made. A few free oil changes, jackets, gloves, hats, and maybe a helmet are your best bets for getting a better deal in the negotiation. There may be some kick back getting you to finance with Suzuki vs. your bank that the dealership may be getting so knowing this can help too. Good luck with your purchase.

I think it depends on the dealer. I got 3K off my FZ1 brand new in 2012, granted they were a few weeks away from getting the 2013 so that might have helped.

When I bought my V-Strom, I managed to get them to knock off only $250.
But I got 0% financing, free service for a year and 3 years of heated indoor storage in the winter.
The financing was the best part of the deal.
