Going to replace the builder installed round toilets with chair height elongated units. Are the American Standard Champion 4s still some of the better ones? I’d love to put in Toto units but we don’t plan to be in this house forever; that and our current market doesn’t value higher end finishes. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

Toto Drake toilets in our house ... newest one is ADA height. And yes, going to replace the other two toilets with ADA height as it is a big difference in comfort

Put four Kohler Cimmeron comfort height elongated toilets in my house and love them. They flush like a camper toilet, around the bowl, not down from the rim, and stay clean. Even my 20 y/o son hasn't clogged one. NRA Life Member "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." Teddy Roosevelt

I replaced my 2016 builder grade toilets with American Standard Champion 4s. Went from weekly plungering to no plungering in 4 years. On a side note, measure how much clearance you have from the back of the bowl/piping to your wall. I have found that some toilets don't fit my house due to the way the bowl/back of the bowl has different lengths. With that said, the taller bowls take a little something getting used to. I prefer a lower height bowl and like others have said, your feet can dangle a bit.

I got an American Standard. Not the top line. I think it was about $200. It has a 4" tank outlet. And you have to hold the flush handle for about 3 seconds. Works good until you lay a fat one that cant exit the bowl without help. Also two that wedge in the bowl outlet need help. SIGnature NRA Benefactor CMP Pistol Distinguished

I second the Toto Drake. I went with the 1.6 gallon and couldn't be happier with it. It has a unique flush system that makes good use of the 1.6 gallons. Link .

Put in a cheaper American Standard last week ($180). What I looked at in particular was the internals. Many are now built with larger, 3” flapper valves - not the standard size that has been common for 20+ years. So, I wanted a commode with commonly available parts that are easy to replace. And I will stock a few spares. I don’t want to be calling in a plumber for a five minute fix on a Sunday night.

Love American Standard toilets. They flush like tornadoes. Btw, with their elongated ones, make sure your restroom door has enough clearance to close. Q

Over the years I replaced 2 in our house, mostly used by kids as they grew. I spent some time with reviews at Home Depot & Lowes websites, then factored in pricing. With some you pay a fair bit more, no real gain with functionality. I’m not sure the last I put in 3 years ago, working fine though.
