As a teenager, I always thought his comics were not funny. As an adult, I forgot all about him. But apparently he is still around, putting out shit. Like this one, basically joking about Trump getting stabbed in prison.

.

What a piece of shit.

In the mid 2000's, his cartoon about a soldier working with Iraqis was spot on and funny. But I can't think of anything else he's done that isn't a lefty hit job on the right.

I miss the old Bloom County of the 80s. Mr Breathed made fun of both sides when they did stupid shit.

I never found him funny, either. Always figured his stuff was nothing but social/political commentary in comic strip format. As such: His stuff, to me, was always seemed more suitable for the OpEd page than the comics pages.

Bloom County and Calvin managed to do social and political commentary humorously.

That’s the first Doonesbury cartoon I’ve looked at in decades. Should have known better.

One of the worst comic strip ever. Even back in the day before I even knew what the difference between left and right was, I always found Doonesbury to be unfunny, un-American tripe. I quickly grew to hate it.

The other one I always disdained was that annoying bitch Cathy. Just intolerable.

Never cared for that strip either. I'm with Irish Wind and ensigmatic on their choice of comics from back when.

Once upon a time he was funny, back in the Uncle Duke and his interpreter days. He lost it some time after Reagan was elected, and turned into a POS. I seem to remember he was on an editorial page in a newspaper, back when I read them, but it's been many years and many moves since then. (BTW, I'm never moving again. I love this place.)

^^^^Yes. Back when Nixon/Ford/Carter/Reagan ran the show, Trudeau took shots at everyone. Rolling Stone, Hunter Thompson, the Moonies, Tip O'Neil, both political parties, and the national news media.

He was an equal opportunity offender, and very funny. As you note, after Reagan, he lost it and became a predictable, lecturing leftie.

I miss Mad magazine. It poked fun at everybody equally without being mean-spirited. Even South Park does a better job of that (except for being mean-spirited and vulgar) than Turdeau.

I think I remember that. Was the character's name B.D.? He never took his helmet off. And his girlfriend was Boopsie?

Don't remember the name. But I was training Iraqis at the time, and several strips hit way too close to home.
