Just got done changing the check valve and fittings on the sewage ejector pump. the check valve shot craps literally at some point, then it leaked out the side spewing liquefied shit and pee water in the corner of the basement! A half hour of cussing to get the parts to fit on and line up properly. Another 30 min mopping up the sewage off the floor and I am almost done. Gonna go after it again tomorrow and scrub the concrete again. Sometimes home ownership isn't all it's cracked up to be! Frown

Shit happens!

…and happens.

…and happens.

Too soon?

Did a plugged drain repair last week. Had a schmutz explosion. Nasty.
Saved a bunch and got it done right away by doing it myself.

We've got it mostly cleaned up.

That my friends is why plumbers get the big bucks.

Ha! My dad used to tell me “there’s good money in shit” he was a well driller and plumber, last twenty years he sold and installed sewage systems in western NC. Also ran a few potable water systems too.

A little bleach will get it cleaned up for ya.

Ya. We hear you. That's why the check is best installed as low as possible above the top of the ejector basin. With a butterfly or gate valve right above it.

You remove the top off the basin and, in theory, everything flows back down into the basin.

As far as a check leaking out its side, most of them in that application are slip union connection. You DEF-inately want the macerator pump on the basin floor, a tight fit on the pipe, up to the horizontal. No wiggle room.

Last night I had a plumbing dream. An upstairs toilet was overflowing at my dad's house. Moments before settlement to the new owners (somehow my high school girlfriend was also at the settlement, 17 years old). Two inches of water on the bathroom floor. I grab a plunger and give the bowl sturdy action with the force cup. Siphonage was almost immediate. And VERY strong. Tore the head off the plunger. I was left holding the handle. No force cup.

I left the bathroom thinking, "Well, the main drain is sure gonna be clogged now."
