My sincerest condolences to you. I lost my Dad 28 years ago. He was only 58. I hadn't quite realized just how long it's been because I still miss him a lot. You said one thing that really makes me remember him even more:

"I would do anything to get his advice."

My God, that must be universal. I found that finding a joke or something else that he would have found especially funny really helped me through and to keep remembering good times. May be a bit odd but it really worked for me. Had me laughing almost as if he were there, laughing with me.

I am sorry for your loss and I am sorry you are feeling such sorrow.

It does, however, encourages me to hear that you had such a relationship with him. He was a special man, for sure and I hope to have the same kind of relationship with my kids as you had with your father.

I lost my dad about 4 years ago. I talk to him only slightly less today than when he was alive, so my life was relatively unaffected. I wish my situation was more like yours. My dad wasn’t a talker and wasn’t the kind of guy you called to get life lessons. He could fix anything though.

My mom moved in with us last summer and it’s been nice having her around. I’ve never talked with her on a daily basis since leaving for the Marines in 1991. She’s 78 now.

May GOD be with you and comfort you, my friend. In your pain, please understand that your father succeeded in the most important of tasks, which was departing this world being respected and loved by you as he loved and respected you.

Tony.

Sorry for your loss.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

My Dad turned 90 in Feb. Went out to see him with the whole family. Just visited with he and my Mom the Fri before Mother's Day also. I know the day is probably coming and I know it will be rough on all of us. Good advice to keep in touch regularly with the folks and let them know you are thinking about them.

Very sorry for your loss.
