Paging Appliance Brad (& Other Michiganians): Michigan Governor's and U.S. Senate Primaries?
So, fellow Michiganians: Not sure who I like. I'm inclined to think either Calley or Schuette.
I'd like to see Snyder's momentum carried-on. He's endorsed Calley. OTOH, I've met Schuette, and he strikes me as an upstanding individual. I like how he's also gone after elected officials across party lines.
For U.S. Senate: Not sure which of the TV adverts I'm to believe. I'd kind of lean toward James, him being ex-military, but as we all know: That's no guarantee (*cough* McCain *cough*).

I can't even turn the radio on in the morning without hearing someone (that Sandy chap?) saying "conservative, conservative, conservative, conservative, Trump's BOLD conservative agenda!"
It's driving me crazy. Trump is not a conservative, and their "Look at me! I'm a conservative, like Trump!" is pissing me off. They sound like stupid politicians desperately trying to connect with the youth. "Hey I'm hip! I gots the FaceSpace and Twittles!"
Sure, I'll probably vote for Calley, but I don't think Calley is the best guy necessarily. I just think Calley is the least destabilizing guy while the national political scene realigns, and people start leaning more towards personal liberty and away from the "We gotta have Lansing and Washington do all our things!"
I wouldn't mind seeing James get the nod, just to see people have to give the melanin jihad a rest.

Pensler. *nod* Republicans jumping on the Trump bandwagon and Democrats jumping on the anti-Trump bandwagon.

Nope.

I don't know if that was particularly helpful

Didn't work when Obama was elected. Won't work here.

Don't know if you know or care, but the NRA rated Schuette A+ and Calley an A so not much difference there. James and the other Republican were rated the same. All Democrats got an F rating. Want to see my shocked face? Rod

In my opinion Schuette has a better chance in the general. He can claim to have prosecuted individuals responsible for Flint, and Larry Nassar. Calley will be viewed as inextricably linked to Snyder, who has been tarnished by Flint.
Just my take, for what it's worth.

I tend to agree that Schuette will have a better chance in the fall, and we do not need any of the Democratic candidates winning. I didn't mind Snyder, but after the Flint water clusterf,,k nobody wanted to be linked to him. Rod

The Snyder/Calley team haven't been of much use to us gun owners. Has appeared as though Snyder had his lackeys make sure nothing made it to his desk to be signed. They also decided to tax pensions, starting the year I retired! They also decided that the taxes on making fireworks legal was a good idea. My area sounds like war zone around the 4th of July. People either shoot them of or hate them, most seem to hate them. Sounds like couple rinos to me!

I would have been a strong Calley supporter before the BS with the road referendum. People actually talked about Snyder as a president hopeful before that. I think Schuette has a better chance in the general.
As for the Senate,I can't decide. I don't like Pensler acting like he has Trumps endorsement but I have to say his negetive adds against James has got me thinking.

I am watching Jim Hines. He may be a better choice that the establishment Republicans. All the Dems appear to be idiots, with the biggest being Thanedar, a Bernie clone. And no matter who is elected, no one gives a shit about the bastard stepchild of Michigan, the Upper Peninsula. My guess is the "free shit" crowd in the big cities of the Lower Peninsula will vote in a Dem idiot.

I'm not sure who to vote for on the Republican ticket. Just about anybody is better than Senator Stabenow.
The Governor's race on the Democratic side is a circus. This article explains it better than I can.https://www.bridgemi.com/public-sector/ids-undocumented-workers-and-other-surprises-michigan-democrats
Not to mention Thanedar's at first moronic "Shri is just like me" commercials:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el5yrTDUHEc , It has a Saturday Night Live vibe to it..... Plus his newest ads attacking Donald Trump on the immigration issue, he is playing the race card IMO.

Hopefully he was able to rejoin us using another name so he wouldn't have to answer thirty dishwasher questions before looking at the cat pictures. I'd like to think so.

That's a shame . Among other things (non-appliance-related), I really appreciated his insights into Michigan politics.

I don't blame him for leaving too much. He was becoming a free resource for appliance issues as opposed to general gun topics.
He'll be missed.

I will support Schuette to the end. He helped me when I asked for support against unfair police persecution, and held them at bay. His staff went above and beyond to assist me despite not knowing me. I will do the same for him. P
I have had several political calls trying to sell me on his opponents. I just tell them who I will be voting for, “no thanks Omaha, Omaha thanks a lot”.This message has been edited. Last edited by: greco, July 20, 2018 05:10 PM

YooperSigs, I grew up in the eastern UP, loved it but couldn't make a living so now I'm in trolville. Sadly you are spot on about the UP being the red headed step sister of Michigan. The "free shit" crowd in Detroit and Flint alone out number all the voters in the UP. Only hope is for some help from Central and Northern Michigan. I too will miss Appliance Brad, he is very sharp on Michigan politics. Rod

I was already aware of this. It would seem he justly took umbrage at the "advice" and sniping non-pros were offering to legit appliance queries. Some obviously thought sleeping at a Holiday Inn made them more of an expert than Brad. Sad really....
Yes he is missed! Wish someone who is close to him would reach out and ask him to return. This message has been edited. Last edited by: bald1, July 20, 2018 06:14 PM
