This story happened a couple weeks ago but I just didn't have the heart to post it during the holidays.

Local media was slow to report the story and the Denver Post has been conspicuously silent on it.

The illegal alien was in police custody for a DUI (and released hours after his arrest into the custody of a friend) just 4 days before he fatally struck and killed this woman...I'd like to know the circumstances surrounding his release.

There are pictures at the linked website article.

Undocumented Mexican driver, 42, previously deported SIX TIMES, is arrested in fatal hit-and-run of Denver grandmother

By ADRY TORRES FOR DAILYMAIL.COM PUBLISHED: 10:47 EST, 25 December 2019 | UPDATED: 11:26 EST, 25 December 2019

An undocumented immigrant was arrested on Saturday for the alleged fatal hit-and-run of a grandmother in Denver.

Annette Conquering Bear, a mother-of-six who was due to celebrate her 52nd birthday December 19, was walking home from the supermarket with her husband when Mexican national Juan Sánchez struck her with a SUV he had borrowed the afternoon of December 17.

The 2007 GMC Sierra was abandoned by Sánchez down the road and traced to a friend, who identified him to police investigators.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] confirmed to DailyMail.com that Sánchez was deported six times during the last two decades. His first two deportations took place in 2002. ICE also deported him three times in 2008 and once again in 2012.

The 42-year-old suspect was also arrested three times for driving under the influence of alcohol in Adams County, Colorado [2000]; Denver [2001]; and Seattle, Washington [2002)].

On Monday, Denver prosecutor Beth McCann formally charged Sánchez with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond was set at $500,000.

According to KUSA-TV, Sánchez arrested on suspicion of a DUI on December 13 after he drove into a Black Hawk, Colorado, casino's parking lot through the wrong ramp.

He spent several hours detained by the Gilpin County Sheriff’s deputies before he was released.

It is unknown if the Black Hawk police had done a criminal background check on Sánchez after his blood alcohol level registered 0/183, twice the legal amount permitted under Colorado law.

Funeral services for Conquering Bear, a grandmother-of-five, were held Monday in her hometown of Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

I wish this crap would end. I tired of hearing about the poor illegal aliens. Another innocent is killed because of these animals.

The Democrats want to let more in. I'm amazed how this country has changed in 62 years.

this crap will end when our gubbermint (at all levels) grows a brain and a pair of balls!!

We have little shit hole "villages" defying federal law, providing cover for all manner of illegals, many of them repeat offenders.

Recall that incident a little while ago when the so-called law enforcement types refused to turn over an illegal to federal agents?

Here's a thought: When some shit head in local gubbermint refuses to turn over an illegal, and that illegal commits another crime, prosecute the assholes who protected, and then released him to repeat his crimes!

And none of this sending them to one of those luxury places, either. Chain gang out working to improve the areas.

If said illegals kill someone, then Murder 1, and PROMPT meet with Old Sparky.

The woman's family should seek retribution on the illegal and EVERY entity responsible for him being free.

There should be consequences for allowing this to happen.

I’m in favor of the 3rd deportation including clipping both Achilles’ tendons. I bet that’ll eliminate the mf’ers repeating. Probably only have to do a couple before word gets out and people self-deport.

Is there any way to hold local LE accountable? One of the jobs of government is to protect its citizens. It’s one of the few legit jobs our govt has. This is a spectacular failure of government and it would be nice if a few people paid dearly for it.

Just a few questions. He was released into the custody of a friend? Why did the friend not make sure he didn't continue to violate the laws? Who vetted that friend as being responsible? Is That same friend still eligible to receive custody of others? Ever? Who was the sitbag who loaned him the car? Was it impounded or sent to the shredder? Was that friend shredded? Big Grin Did the car have insurance?

Was the poor dead lady, probably a Native American, documented? Why are her relatives not on the warpath? What happened to retribution?

As kids, we played cowboys and indians. Well, until no one wanted to play indian anymore because the rules included them always losing. Shouldn't indians start playing indian and illegal? Mexican's shouldn't necessarily be isolated because there are plenty of drunk bad acting others to shoot.

Our culture has made it acceptable to be an illegal. Maybe it shouldn't be. Where are the balls of the dead lady's husband and other relatives? Maybe the rules should change and if your spouse is killed by an illegal, you should be allowed to kill him, or 10 of them, including anyone he's ever been released in custody of. and anyone who loans him a car. Or serves or sells him a drink. Used to be illegal to sell an Indian a drink, why not bring that law back and now include illegals.

Back in the 1950s, Ike had a Project Wetback. Bet that sounds like a good idea to the dead grandmothers relatives these days. Are any of my questions inciting hatred toward those not legally here? Is that a bad thing? Will he somehow get his bond lowered so he can go out on an evening of drinking? Will the same friend loan him the same car again? Did that friend face any charges?

When will the illegal community start owning their actions? Will it be before we (legal America) starts hammering them? This gets tiring. Why did the criminal go to Denver to do his dirt? Is he too stupid to not do it in Kali were they let them off the hook?

More questions: Was that same illegal on public assistance of any kind? Was the person he was released into custody to? How about the car lender?

It will continue until some responsibility is assigned or extracted.

How can someone sue Smith & Wesson for what someone did with their rifle yet you have a known illegal criminal who constantly violates the law and is released, yet no one can be held accountable.

Your overthinking this. Pretty much anyone who is 18 yrs old and sober can take custody of an arrestee. There is no vetting, you show up at the police station and take your buddy home. How could you possibly hold the friend accountable for what the guy did four days later?

The legal system has been subverted in most large cities under the guise of "progressive justice reforms" and "bail reforms". All that translates to the suspect must have been very very bad 2 or 3 times before they are held or have been bad 5-6 times before they do any jail/prison time.

Not really powerless. If you are deported and then reenter the U.S. illegally it is a felony. The problem is lack of enforcement and incarceration.

The laws on the books are not being enforced.

https://www.justice.gov/jm/cri...-deportation-removal

1912. 8 U.S.C. 1326 -- Reentry After Deportation (Removal)

After the amendments made by the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA), subsection 1326(a) now makes it an offense for any alien who has been denied admission, excluded, deported, or removed, or has departed the United States while an order of exclusion, deportation or removal is outstanding and thereafter enters, attempts to enter, or is at any time found in the United States, unless prior to the alien's reembarkation at a place outside the United States or his application from foreign contiguous territory, the Attorney General has expressly consented to such alien's for admission, or such alien shall establish that he was not required to obtain such advance consent under the Immigration and Nationality Act or any prior Act.

The basic statutory maximum penalty for reentry after deportation is a fine under title 18, imprisonment for not more than 2 years, or both. However, with regard to an alien whose "removal" was subsequent to a conviction for commission of three or more misdemeanors involving drugs, crimes against the person, or both, or a felony (other than an aggravated felony), the statutory maximum term of imprisonment is 10 years. Moreover, if deportation was subsequent to conviction for an aggravated felony, the statutory maximum term of imprisonment is 20 years.

Although subsection 1326(a) now refers to any alien who has been "denied admission, excluded, deported, or removed, or has departed the United States while an order of exclusion, deportation, or removal is outstanding," subsections 1326(b)(1) and (b)(2), relating to aliens with prior criminal convictions, refer only to aliens "whose removal was subsequent to a conviction." Read together, subsections 1326 (a) and (b) appear to suggest that the term "removal" in subsections 1326(b)(1) and (b)(2) includes the terms "denied admission," "excluded ," "deported," "removed," and "departed the United States while an order of exclusion, deportation, or removal is outstanding," as set forth in subsection 1326(a). Section 309(d) of the IIRIRA seems to support this conclusion, providing "any reference in law to an order of exclusion and deportation or an order of deportation." Nevertheless, 8 U.S.C. § 1326 does not define "removal," nor does do subsections 1326(b)(1) and (2) specifically provide that removal is synonymous with "denied admission," "excluded ," "deported," and "departed the United States while an order of exclusion, deportation, or removal is outstanding." In view of this apparent uncertainty, some United States Attorneys expressed concern that, for example, that a criminal alien prosecuted under § 1326(b) might argue that he is not subject to enhanced punishment because he had been "deported," not "removed."

To foreclose possible litigation in this area, the Department is considering proposing a technical amendment whereby the language in subsections 1326(b)(1) and (2) would track the language in subsection 1326(a).

It may not be a case in which LE simply releases someone. They may be complying with a court order when they release someone. Look at NYC and the laws that went into effect yesterday. I think everyone now get's an I Bond except those charged with murder. I think California is heading the same way of they aren't already there. It's the new way of doing things now especially in the towns/states ruled by liberal Democrats.

Seems to me a DUI should include impound of the vehicle until the case is adjudicated. If there is a conviction, the vehicle is seized.
Not their car? Need it for work, take the kids to school? Tough. The patsy who loaned the car gets a real lesson about enabling drunks.
