We really hope it's fungal. Vets in the east don't really see much of this, we were lucky that the radiologist saw that. If it is valley fever at least we have a chance. As she is 13, not sure I'd put her through anything invasive if it's cancer.

Did she get any nodules or cysts on her?

The chest X-ray showed three nodules in her right lung. Vet said it may be lung cancer, Radiologist said it looked more like a fungal infection. We are waiting for the blood test to come back..looking for fungal antibodies.

OKCGeneMy best wishes for Greta and her human family.
Ketoconazole? Wow! I use that, my Dermatologist prescribes it in some sort of liquid form to use on some patches of skin, I forget the proper medical diagnosis term. Nothing serious at all for me, just a minor skin issue.
Is this an oral med for Greta?
.

Jeff YarchinThank you OKC. Yes it is oral. I believe is it generic anti-fungal for Norazil, but I'm not positive.

The reason I brought it up was that my daughters dog got these cysts that had to be cut open and allowed to drain. Oh the joys of living in the desert.

Rey HRHThat's tough. Hard to see your pet suffering.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." irreverentEither way, pretty yucky for her to deal with. Good thoughts sent, and hoping the anti fungal does it’s work quickly.

Jeff YarchinThank you all, I'm grateful.
We lost her this morning. She is over the bridge. It was aggressive cancer and she was struggling to breath, coughing non stop for the past 18 or so hours. Great was the sweetest dog we've ever had, tail wagging, all the way to the end.
