Bit OT, but a few years back a friend of ours who was an art instructor invited us to one of his exhibits. They had a room set up and screened "Loving Vincent". Was interesting in that it was a hand painted movie.

My daughter was a HS art teacher before she went to medical school. All the cats and various stray animals around here got artist names. We had a opossum who came around to eat leftover cat food on the porch. He had been in a fight somewhere along the way and lost an ear. He was named Vincent.

So, in lieu of jail, I suggest amputating each of their left ears as a lasting reminder to all of their dedication to their cause.

I like the ear amputation idea.

But I think they should be left glued to the wall. Put a barrier up around them. Let them have a little food and water. Leave them there for a few days to be gawked at and verbally harassed as they soil themselves repeatedly. at some point they won't be able to stand anymore, and they'll collapse, ripping their hands off the wall.

When that happens, take em' to jail!

That's basically what I was going to say. Have someone step around them to remove the painting so they could begin repair/restoration but leave the nitwits glued to the wall. They should've had the authorities bring a camping chair and wait for them to gnaw their arms off. They can take shifts if needed. After a couple days and they decide to rip their own palms off then haul them off to prison.

Approved. The officers who respond should just stand around and laugh at them for an hour before they cite them. The museum should send the repair bill to their stupid parents.

Great idea. And, to twist the knife a little, tell them that museum staff members are attempting to find a suitable petroleum-based solvent to dissolve the glue that won't damage the wall.

That was good. Nice.

I respect your opinion but disagree strongly. Our kids do not attend reeducation camps like the Communists run. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Effective parenting is the key.

But not the only key. We raised our kids with strong conservative influences, home schooled, finished up with private school, but some liberal crap still creeped in, even in a conservative private school. That little bit was the fault of their environment that we paid lots of money for, were not aware of, and probably couldn't be avoided. Now imagine someone in my shoes living in a more progressive liberal region. What is conservative in that area could be way more liberal that what's conservative in your neck of the woods. Most of do the best we know how, especially significant for those who put lots of effort into the process. But they grow up and choose their own path. So if I were you I'd reconsider what you said.

Yeah I just did. My adult children have the same values as we do as parents. We were VERY involved with their school and their many activities. Sounds like you goofed and missed some stuff resulting in values dissimilar from yours.

Please keep the thread on track.

BTW for those who asked. The women are 20 and 21 and were released on bail. They were told not to have any adhesive or paint. I guess soup is ok. So much for the British justice system.

From looking at the pictures, I'd say between 16 and 22, which tracks.

What everyone seems to have forgotten is the concept of right and wrong.

That would solve a lot of problems but some are just defective from the start. Parenting is part of the problem but must also be part of the solution. But those two should pay a very heavy price for not grasping the concept of right and wrong

Does anybody know how old they are? They look like they’re not old enough to enter a pub yet.

Well, a man murdered an 18 year old by running him over in North Dakota just a month or so ago and was released on bail. Tomato soup on a painting that didn't even damage it hardly rises anywhere near that same level. We have no place to criticize.

An 84.5 million dollar painting with the intent to damage it. It is an affront to society. They were released on bail.
