With all the focus on the gun-grabbing pending in the commonwealth of Virginia, it might have not appeared on the radar screen that the Commonwealth Attorney for the County of Fairfax, upon taking office, declared that he was not going to enforce marijuana laws!

I guess it's now OK to enforce the laws we want to, and ignore those we don't. So, while law-abiding gun owners in the state will soon become criminals through a new law, those who aren't will be getting away scot-free as the man hired to enforce the law looks the other way.

I keep thinking to myself that the world actually DID end on Y2K, and we've all been thrown into a Bizarro universe. It's the only explanation that makes sense!

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

Yawn. Whatever. It means some kid won't be a criminal for life over a bag of weed. Moving on.

... if you're a politician. If you're an ordinary law-abiding citizen, it's a different story.

God bless America.

While I don't think it should be criminal it is. It's the law if you want it changed you call your Senator and Representative and ask for it to be changed or ask for a constitutional amendment protecting your right to smoke dope. The Second Amendment however enumerates your God given right to protect your family and a means to protection from a tyrannical government.

It's a valid comparison of the hypocrisy of saying we will ignore both state and federal laws and do whatever we feel like, and that's OK, but it's wrong to fight laws that the state passes in violation of 2A and Art 1, Sec 13 of VA Constitution.

That was the point OP was making, not that it's OK for some 20 y/o to carry the baggage of getting popped with a joint.

In years past I've seen or heard examples where this has already been at the discretion of the officer. Dump your bag out and be on your way.
I can't summon enough outrage to really care.
"Say good-bye to your stash and be on your way" Isn't making it legal for them.

skins2881 got the point I was trying to make. I too, don't care if someone lights up (but let's be clear: if you're on the road being a hazard, that's different than doing it in the privacy of your home). The hypocrisy I see is that those municipalities establishing themselves as 2A sanctuaries are decried as refusing to obey a law, whereas the Commonwealth Attorney, with the blessing of the governor, is blithely ignoring another law.

Don't like the law? Change it. Better yet, don't enact it.

Reread OP and my reply. HE IS NOT ADVOCATING FOR OR AGAINST POT. He is pointing out the hypocrisy of the Democrats demonization of gun owners standing up for US and VA constitutional law which is moral and just, while at the same time those same Democrats are saying they won't enforce other laws they don't like.

They want their cake and to eat it too. You can't have it both ways. Either the law is the law, or not. In their world whatever they want to be the law is how things should be enforced/adjudicated.
