The Illinois end is in sight!
Our new house in Tennessee is done, and two weeks ago our house in Illinois sold in a day and a half. Moving truck here on the 25th and close on IL house on the 31st. It’s been a long time coming! Can’t wait!

CONGRATULATIONS!
I despise living here, and would be gone if I could get my Wife to leave the Grand-kids behind.
Taxes and everything else here in the cesspool make living here a nightmare.
Add actually living in Chicago, Cook County and it all makes me want to throw up.
I'm so happy to see you improving your family's life.

I live in McLean county. The property taxes are second to Cook county. Insane! I’ll be going from $6400 a year to around $2,200. Pay raise for us! We have 9.35 acres in TN with a new built 2,600 ranch house.

So nice!

My wife worked in southern Illinois for years.
It is really very nice except for being controlled by the Democrats politically.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Bill, I would like to get together before you leave. Danny and I are shooting at Clinton most weeks.

Or we could have lunch.

Congrats! It’s a great feeling isn’t it? I left Illinois a little over two years ago and it’s such a good feeling that I don’t contribute to the corruption of the state politics there anymore. Granted, I still have to go there for work but I don’t spend a single penny within the states’s border (other than toll fees…grrr).

Milwaukee isn’t a whole lot better but it really is preferable than Chicago.

Great choice. I grew up in middle TN.

Hold my beer.
The average property tax bill for homeowners in the Garden State hit a record $9,803, according to new data posted by the state Department of Community Affairs. That’s up from a previous record high of $9,490 in 2022.

We did the same thing. Moved from Utah to Tennessee officially Oct 2023. We love it here. I’m sure you will too.

Congratulations.

My parents recently made the move from Illinois to Arkansas. Just about every day they find some new way that AR is better/cheaper than IL.

I've been gone from Illinois for 15 years and don't miss it one bit. Don't have any family left there, either but my wife does. I don't visit often and won't visit in the winter. I just won't tolerate cold weather anymore.

Told my wife I wouldn't live there for $250k a year. I enjoy my freedom and wearing shorts and flipflops year round.

Our neighbors a couple of land tract’s from us are from NJ. They were glad to get out. They had monstrous taxes as well.

darthfuster, curious why you moved from UT to TN. I'm closing in on retirement, and UT is one of my top choices.
