PASigGarden Hose Help
What is a decent type and brand of garden hose? Looking for 100 ft. My last two hoses have been those flex expanding fabric hoses and I’m done with them, the first lasted 2 years but the second one just blew out on me after just two months.
Can’t spend a fortune on a hose, just a decent basic model.
Thanks!

slosigWell, I would have said Gilmour Flexogen hose, but they are not inexpensive. That said, they come with a lifetime warranty. If one fails you, cut the brass ends off, send them in, and they’ll send you a replacement hose.
These are not the Mickey Mouse fabric hoses, they are some flavor of multi-ply rubber with an advertised 500 psi burst strength. They are all I use anymore.

FredwardI have a couple of "Flexilla" hoses off Amazon. I've had one for about 7 years, never brought it in, even in winter. It's still flexible and works well (although it is filthy.) A hundred footer will cost you about fifty bucks, but you'll cry once.

jimmy123xGo to West Marine. Buy a 100' or 2- 50' garden hoses and save the receipt, in fact make a photo copy. They have a lifetime guarantee and you just walk into the store and they hand you a new one. Made in the USA

shiftyvtecI prefer the 100% rubber hoses in black. I've heard the Flexogen are good as well.

IntrepidTravelerI have a Neverkink I got from Amazon a couple of years ago, still is in good shape. It's hung on an outside wall in the New Mexico sun for all that time.

Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

Oz_ShadowI got one similar to this one. The others with the 4" plastic sleeves suck on my reel.

deepoceanAbout a month ago I found these on clearance at Walmart for $34. I bought a few, and they have worked very well. I was leery because of some reviews, but having used them for a while, I think they are well made and I like them a lot.

WoodmanI keep an extra around. Makes a great gift. Usually wait for the sales. My current is 4+ years old, outside 365, no issues. Still lifetime warranty. USA production according the the sears website image. "Limited warranty" in their notes but the packaging says lifetime.

Very happy with mine.

I have a couple Neverkinks, one of which has been outside for 10 years and is still going strong.

pillboxesghostFind a rubber supply company (similar to Catawba Industrial Rubber in Charlotte, NC). Ask them to make up a 150 Lb. steam hose with heavy hex brass garden hose ends. They will make any length hose you desire. I'd recommend two 50', rather than one 100'.
It won't be inexpensive -- however I have had my 50' hose for well over 40 years. It has been abused/mistreated. Never stored inside since I bought it! Allowed to freeze (w/H2O inside). It remains in excellent condition.
Truly, buy once, cry once. This will be the LAST garden hose you'll ever buy!

kramdenGarden hose are like tires. The higher the ply rating the better the hose.

choang3I buy the Contenental hose from Home Depot. They’re black and have lasted me more than 10 years. Priced right. I’m assuming it’s the same company as the tire brand.

reflex/deflex 64This is a buy once cry once moment.
If you insist on cheap, you must treat it like a queen. Use it, empty it coil and store it out of the sunlight. Expect it to get brittle anyway.
Maybe get 50' of good hose for frequent use and 50' of cheap stuff for the times you really need the extra length, unless of course 100 feet is the minimum.
I've got a 16 year old Apex (I think) black rubber hose. It was as cheap as I could find not a great hose actually. It's about done, but has been mistreated its entire life. I got a 50' version this spring, using my own advice I will add another 50' this coming spring.

maxwayneIf you have any farm supply stores in your area, they usually carry quality hoses.

henryaz Goodyear (now Continental)
rubber, black or red. I have had both colors last more than a decade laying in the AZ sun, which will deteriorate just about anything. As mentioned above, the Continental is carried at Home Depot, but I order from Amazon as HD is 50 miles away. Well worth the cost.

Best damn water hoses I've ever seen.
