Strange credit card fraud situation
So yesterday I received a random package from Walmart. It had my address however the name was completely different. I assumed it was someone else in town who accidentally put in my address, or maybe an issue with a phone order.

Fast forward to today and I noticed my credit card balance was unusually high. There were approximately 13 Walmart.com orders on my credit card totaling almost $1k. And as of about an hour ago, all of the packages have been delivered to my house. I contacted chase, cancelled the card and am in the process of getting a new one. I opened a couple of the boxes and in one of them was 3 packages of the same table cloths, and in another was a single package of 3 ring binder notebook paper. I held off on opening the rest so when I send them back Walmart won't think I'm screwing with them.

I'm on hold with Walmart now trying to see what they want me to do with all of this stuff. This just seems like such a bizarre scenario.

Sounds to me like you have a WalMart online account that has been hacked.

I thought that but I checked my account and there are no orders in it, and it did not have this CC saved on file.

If all the orders came to you, maybe they will just have you return them to a local Walmart. But it is strange.

These go to eleven.

I’m curious as to what the scam is? Why purchase crappy items and ship them to the card holder?

No, they said to just let it play out with Chase.

The packages didn't have a packing slip in them, which may or may not be commonplace with Walmart. I don't think I've ever ordered a delivery item from them. But they came from Walmart's address, in Walmart branded boxes with Walmart branded packing tape.

I have taken reports and investigated this type of scam. The items are mailed to your house with the intentions of the Porch Pirates coming along to intercept them after delivery. Your items don't seem very high value. Maybe they are building up their nerve for the spendy stuff still to come.

Another 12 packages arrived today. I called Walmart and told them to block any packages from being shipped to this address. I've also left a note out for UPS and FedEx. The local delivery drivers must think I'm nuts.

Charged to the same credit card as the previous batch of Walmart packages?

No new charges except for one made right before I cancelled the card. Since Walmart works kind of like Amazon now I assume these were all part of the same original orders.

This sounds like a shodunit episode.

My creative guess is that you have a second personality that took over and ordered those stuff.

But I know this is serious for you so I hope you get to the bottom of this.

It's not like your wife went on a shopping binge, did she?

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." If she did she's using an assumed name.

The packages have my address but a different name on them.

Another 12 packages? That’s nuts. The name on the package isn’t Claus, is it? It’s Christmas in May!

I’m curious what’s in the box. So far, table clothes and a 3-ring binder. I’m guessing a wedding is being planned. That or the butler did it with the candelabra in the library.

I've been very tempted to open the others, but I'm going to wait to see what Walmart and Chase say. Walmart's overseas call center has been less than helpful, I'm guessing they'll just say to dump the packages.

Are you sure your wife didn't order the stuff?

Serious question, do either you or your wife sleepwalk? Or do either of you take sleeping aids?

I get what you guys are saying but trust me this wasn't either of us.

Our cat likes to walk across the keyboard of our computer. No telling what she might order.
