Two retirement homes! Even better, get three or four.

Maine doesn’t rate well in taxes or redness, should either be a factor.
Go find a spot in SD you like.
And don't make it Vermont!!

46and2The coast sounds pretty nice, actually.
Good views, temperatures, humidity, water things to do, etc.
Is rural-ish coastal, on the actual water coastal, Maine particularly expensive?. I've never looked.
On the actual Atlantic, or on a river inlet or little island or some such. Land, acreage.

hrcjonExpensive compared to what? Interior Maine yes. Coastal in the NE, no. Coastal in CA heck no. The rest of the south east coast yes.

r0gueEach year I get older, and hate winter more. The only small consolation is time now goes faster, so it's not quite as endless as it once was. I would certainly NOT move into it from NC. If you want rural, NC has that too. I've seen it.

He love it there. I would move here tomorrow if I had a way to make a living.
Used to go to the Navy shipyard in Kittery for my haircuts. One chair barbershop -- dude ruled.
