WRT the prevalence of speed enforcement in VA, in Fairfax County, at least, our woke elected officials have instructed the police force to "de-emphasize" speeding violations due to "their inconsistent application against persons of color." Except for certain well-known locations on low-speed secondary roads, I hardly ever see radar traps any more in the county, especially on heavily-trafficed thoroughfares such as Fairfax County Parkway, the DC Beltway, or any other Interstate highway.

Maybe those officials here in Fairfax should see the video and have a few minutes to think. It's been a few months since I've been on that section of the Parkway but a few years ago traffic was far less heavy with fewer idiots. Beltway 2.0. Kudos to the other BMW driver that missed the collision but stopped. I trust they came back and gave a witness statement.

I too am surprised by the comments regarding speeding in VA as it was one of the worst states to drive through w/o being hassled by local yocal sheriffs/deputies seeking to boost a given town's revenue for minor speeding infractions. While this was less frequent in NoVA, the presence of many police cruisers tended to demotivate speedy driving. Much has perhaps changed since the Wuhan virus.

I agree with both comments. Driver had no little or no experience driving such a high performance car at speed, saw the police officer, and did a panic stop, which send the car across median. All parties extremely lucky. Regrettably, patients giving children expensive cars not uncommon in Fairfax County and other wealthy suburbs.

Yes, traffic enforcement in Fairfax County and other parts of Virginia used to be pretty strict. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case in other states as well. I understand, but cannot say with any certainty, it is another consequence of progressive politics and the consequent application to traffic enforcement.

BTW, I lived in Fairfax County for decades, so know how strict enforcement used to be. I now live in the "Lowcountry" of SC where many have commented on the lack of a law enforcement presence enforcing speeding and other traffic laws.

If this is indeed a trend, nothing good will come of it.

I thought an M3 was closer to $120k.

They're about 100K now at the top, start about 75k. But that looks like a F30 (2014-2018). Which could be 30-50k(ish).

Braking in the turn is generally a pretty bad idea. Resisting the urge to brake in the turn takes great self-control. That generally isn't found in the young, the weak, or those prone to panic.

That one is even worse in my mind as this kid was doing it for likes and popularity from people he doesn't even know. That's right, you killed 6 people to get more likes. Idiot.

From the Link:

“I think that the defendant should be in jail and not at home. We can’t see our families now and why should he? This was a very reckless crime and not just for my mom — everybody’s lives. We need justice,” she added.

Have to say I agree

^^^^^ This.

I sincerely hope the family's insurance policy gets canceled. Good luck finding a new one. Three cars wrecked and/or heavily damaged (the police cruiser) - yea, your insurance company is gonna love paying out those claims plus medical.

The little twit needs jail time. It better be felony reckless driving. And kiss your DL away.

Hey mom and dad - have fun paying for your little twit's BMW that's now in the bone yard! Maybe the bank will call in the car loan?

Maybe you could join him in jail - you certainly didn't raise him very well - little entitled shithead.

Found a lawyer yet...how much is that gonna cost you?

I'm certainly glad the officer had an angel looking over him.

Send the 17 year old to Singapore for bamboo canning. Then have him do a YouTube about his experience.
