Immediate turn in to police regardless of difficulty, is the policy. And maybe he will start fishing in Jeff Parish for better results.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^The previous sheriff of Jefferson Parish would have been interested. Owned a Chinese restaurant, wore a cowboy hat and ran the Parish his OWN way. The last time I saw him was at a Willie Nelson concert singing a duet with Willie of All the Women I have ever loved. Even in Louisiana he stood out.

Yep. Waited over two hours for police to arrive after accident in New Orleans East on I-10. I was a passenger and no injuries. My sister in law insisted on waiting that long. I explained to her that the area was not safe. Finally she gave up after exchanged insurance information and taking pictures. Understaffed department. Response time in certain areas of the city is quite slow.
Probably the same in most large cities.
People routinely wait 2+ hours around here for wrecks. A found junk gun call could be held for several hours.
Hell--priority 1 calls (B&E in progress, robbery, shootings, etc.) sometimes hold for several minutes.
Very common for our "precinct" to not have anyone in it from 5pm+.
It sucks.
Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.
Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

RHINOWSOI guess drinking and chasing women is out of style for young men these days...?

YooperSigsIt is apparently a coed activity, since his GF tags along.
And I will tell him to get the phone numbers of ATF NOLA and LSP and put them in his phone. LSP keep a big presence in New Orleans.

Gun turn-in event will give you cash for guns, no questions asked. Problem is long drive to Chicago.
CHICAGO — People can turn in their guns on Saturday, no questions asked, and receive money in return.
The Chicago Police Department and the Freedom Temple Church of God in Englewood are partnering up for the gun buy-back event.
The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. in the church at 1459 W. 74th St.
You can swap out a gun for $100 and get $10 for BB guns, air guns and replica guns.
In previous reporting by WGN Investigates, state police said 75% of people who had their Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card revoked last year didn’t even respond to a letter asking them to turn in their cards and surrender their weapons.
(It is in Englewood. Nice neighborhood!!! LOL}

YooperSigsHmmm... At 100 bucks, that puts him up 15 bucks over what he paid for the official magnet fishing kit.
But its a long drive to Chicago.

Actually, I’m a senior detective that works this very thing full time, state and federal. Currently, I’m the only one on the western end of the state that is fully involved in the NIBIN program on the state and local side. I’m hoping that it works out where I can become a NIBIN examiner.
Advising someone to keep a crime gun is a horrible idea. Unless your advice is how to get locked up for 5-10 in the federal system, it is horrible advice. Gun comes back hot in NIBIN and you get to at the very least spend $10,000 in legal fees to get yourself out of it.
The much better idea is turn the gun in.
And people always say “how will I get caught?” And do. If you can’t figure out why it’s a bad idea to keep a gun at the least is stolen, and likely has a body attached to it, I really don’t know know what to tell you.

ZSMICHAELIs NBIN examiner a Federal position working with ATF? What does the position involve? Pay and benefits I am sure are better on the Federal level.
I found this link online is it accurate?
