2012 was the last year for the timing belt on the Outback.

I just had a boil over issue with my Outback. I let the overflow tank get too low and ended up with low coolant in the radiator. I lost about 2 liters in the process, but I don't think there was any perminant damage.

And many models don't have a temperature gauge. Roll Eyes Just blue (cold) and red (hot) lights. By the time you see the hot light on, the cooling system is already boiling over. Worse, an overheating (but not enough to trigger the light) condition could be going on for weeks or months without the driver knowing it.
