The Fulani in Nigeria are the same ethnically as the Peul in Senegal, with whom I lived as a Peace Corps volunteer in the 60's. At that time they were a very peaceful, friendly, and tolerant people, practicing Muslims but not fundamentalist/Islamist. Very unfortunately that seems to be changing as Islamists translate their radical materials into local languages (although the Fulani and others worship in Arabic and know some Arabic verses, they don't speak or read Arabic). Senegal was 95% Muslim; the problems now are mostly where large populations of Christians and Muslims intersect, as in Nigeria. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Thx for the post. I haven’t heard about this in the media either. Most (CNN, MSNBC, ect) are too busy blaming the 50 people killed in New Zealand on our President’s “rhetoric”. Simply crazy and sad at the same time.

Nigeria ranks as the 12th worst country in the world when it comes to Christian persecution, according to Open Doors USA’s 2019 World Watch List. In 2018 alone, thousands of Christians were killed by militant Fulani herdsmen, leaving some to say that genocide is occurring in the Middle Belt of Nigeria. Last year they killed thousands of Christians and they are only ranked 12th in the world?

Wait, what? |
These stories aren’t being being carried by the leftist msm...therefore it isn’t happening. See how that works? “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Christians are the single most persecuted religious group in the world. Whether its China, Syria, Iraq, or North Africa, the persecution of horrific and worsening. And the MSM is silent about it. Why? Because they condone it. _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum. There is the strength—the marrow of Nature." - Henry David Thoreau

Ironic that there was relative religious freedom there under Saddam Hussein. (Not from any benevolence on his part; he just didn't bother them as long as they didn't cause political trouble for him.) His removal - by us - lit the fuse to the powder keg he was keeping the lid on. Sorry to have to say it, but some people need a boot firmly planted on their necks at all times.

120 Christians slaughtered in Nigeria vs 49 Muslims in New Zealand, all we've been hearing about is the Muslims for three days. It shows how screwed up our news media is. And of course their prime minister wants more gun control. Gotta throw that in for good measure. The Muslims like using suicide bombers on other Muslims, very strange bunch. Don't forget the honor killings. Bottom line, can't say I'm shredding a tear for the Muslims.

May be a reason for the "nothing to see here folks". From what I can find it has been a decades long conflict that has become increasingly more violent between Muslim cattle herders and Christian farmers. Less about religion and more about "open range" issues. Both sides are killing each other. Basically, Open Range cattle herders vs Farmers. But, I could be wrong.

Staring back from the abyss |
This brings up a question that I've been struggling with. When does the rest of the world give these fucking savages something to fear? When do we begin to fight back? It seems the fella in NZ felt that that day was just the other day. I can't say that the killing of innocents is right or moral, but are they? That's an honest question that we've discussed here in the past. Does "moderate" islam exist, and if so, why do they do nothing to rein in and/or condemn the extremists? If they don't exist, are they all the enemy to be destroyed? All I can say with certainty is that I'm sick of these animals. 50 here, 75 there, 120 over yonder, and the best that the world can come up with is some short-lived collective outrage...a figurative slap across the face with a glove when nothing short of a swift and certain death will suffice. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." No, you're quite correct, and this is a fairly common type of conflict in Africa's agrarian societies. For example in Darfur, the background was the farming Nilo-Saharan Fur against the cattle-driving Arab-speaking Baggara. In that case both sides were Muslim, so there was no angle for religious exploitation by interested outside parties. The world only noticed when militant Furs rebelled against the Sudanese government and the latter used Baggara horse militia against them to the point of the conflict turning genocidal.
