I'm going down to SoCal next week to visit my son and daughter and making an overdue visit to my mother's gravesite. I was thinking it might be nice to take kids for a sushi treat.

The last time I was down there, I (+ GGI crew) went to a low key sushi place at the Santa Monica airport...which has since been closed down for serving Blue Whale...I doubt I could afford to eat there anyway.

I'll be staying in the Sherman Oaks area, close to son, and also might be down in the Irvine area, where daughter stays.

Looking for recommendations in SoCal, if anyone has had good experiences

TIA

No, Daoism isn't a religion

I went to Nobu in San Diego 6-7 years ago and really enjoyed the food. They have locations in Malibu and Newport Beach, depending on where you'll be staying. They have an Omakase option but I have not tried it.
