Someone over the last couple months has emailed me with a pic of a LAW rocket or a SIG 551 asking if I've already purchased them. Selling the LAW for $100 and the 551 for $1100. Send money order or venmo. Selling due to cancer reasons....

It's funny because I've inquired about both types of items on here in the classified section and NO I do not think it's the OP of the items being sold here.

Emails used over the last 3 days of recent emails:

Samueljollygarmins@gmail.com Google search says Nigeria....

tonyabutlerr@gmail.com Google search shows a thread on HKPRO of someone who got ripped off by the same email

All emails I've received use the same wording

Haha, I got the same email from “Tonya” about a P250 kit. Very strange.

"Tonya" also contacted me yesterday via the SigForum email account I use. "She" wanted to sell me 12 mags of the exact same type I bought just six weeks ago from a legitimate seller in the Classifieds. "She" claimed to be selling due to cancer issues.

Thanks for posting your experiences, DCFD4 and BigSwede. I didn't think much about the email until I saw your post.

Yup. Ol' Tonya is trying to sell me Trijicons. I'm on the email as a bcc to an email sent to tndiver56(at)epbfi.com. EPB is apparently the Chattanooga electric/cable/internet/etc. utility.

Here's the text:

I bought some Trijicon night sights in the classified section about 2 months ago.

Seems that the common denominator was stuff we all purchased out of the classifieds here.

I wonder whether they considered the wisdom involved in becoming of interest to a bunch of really smart people, many of whom possess significant expertise in computers and or identifying and locating assholes who don’t want to be found.

I received one from Samuel Jolly trying to sell a Springfield Armory XD-S 4.0 9mm bi-tone...same thing...selling due to cancer. I deleted it. It was obviously some foreign scam. It ended with "Kindly send me your email or phone number for pictures." He obviously already had my email.

waste of time. Tried once and ended up on the phone being called every name imaginable. ...and for them to say such awful things about my mother. no need for that.

Nothing about stringing them along improved my life at all. Just wasted time.

This appears to be targeted, specific, spam. It would be interesting to know how the miscreant is obtaining the email addresses that are being used.

They're registered here= Have access to your Public Profile. They read the classifieds and respond to people posting in classifieds threads.

My scam offer was directly related to a response I made to a specific listing. The offer used the Listing Title as the Email Subject.

Offering to send pictures when the For Sale Thread had a dozen or more quality pictures was another red flag. "Kindly send me your email or phone number for pictures".

There must have been either a recent breech or a recent sale of older data because I've gotten three or four e-mails demanding bit coins or they'll release footage of me viewing porn sites. They claim to have gotten the footage off a built in camera on my monitor, which my desktop doesn't have. The password is one I use for non financial web sites like this one, so if it's compromised all they can do is spam under my name.
