I've never been to NYC proper, but I had a really bad experience as a 15 year-old kid trying to navigate through Newark airport with my two younger brothers without our parents. Our flight got cancelled, we got lost and separated, and the attitude of every member of the public we encountered was exactly like what is described in the OP. Even the airline employees were assholes until the cop mentioned below set them straight. I'll be forever grateful for some compassionate security ladies (this was pre-TSA) and a local cop who helped us out, otherwise I don't know what would have happened. Made me laugh. All honesty New York City is the safest place I’ve felt in the world when I’ve traveled.. I think one of the first times I was there, I ran up to a beat cop because I had no idea where I was and where I needed to go, and he was so kind. Recognized a tourist, I suppose. I guess I make a point to avoid the shady places, though. __________________________ "Trust, but verify." | |||
