I’m looking for a safe for just pistols. I would like the ability to store 10 pistols. There are a lot of small safes around but from what I have seen the security is questionable on many. - Fast access to pistols not important - Installation in my house, I can lag to wall/floor - Building safe into something substantial a good idea? There is a lot of discussion on a large gun safe but not much on the type of safe I’m looking for. I’m open for suggestions from the SF group.

Most gun safe manufacturers build small versions that are suitable for pistols. As with the rest of the gun safes, fire protection isn't what is advertised and security will be minimal. The small fire rated safe that you see at the big box stores? Great for paperwork, not good for guns. There are all sorts of commercial safes out there with varying degrees of fire and burglary resistance. These will be heavier than the others and come with a higher price tag.

I have a small, dial type AMSEC that I am happy with for just holding pistols. It is probably two foot cubed in volume. I have two 4 lane pistol racks in there holding 8 pistols. I built it in and have it "hidden". You may want to check out AMSEC

I picked up an old store safe, roughly half the size of a big rifle sized safe, walls are maybe 3 inches or so thick, dial combo, guessing 75-100 yrs old, works like a charm for pistols, and some paperwork, found it relatively cheap years ago, just had to clean it up a bit, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/
