The Governor didn't waste any time. I think he's a solid choice...

If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

A solid choice.
At least it's not someone with the last name 'McCain'. Big Grin

Plenty of time for him to hop on a plane and go vote YEA for the SCOTUS confirmation.

I love it when a plan comes together! I'm still not tired of winning, but I may need to catch my breath for a few minutes. Big Grin

Will former Sen. Jon Kyl have his prior service counted toward his current seniority?

At this point he's apparently making noises about not serving beyond January 2019, although Ducey seems inclined to have him stay in until the special election in 2020.

My questions is whether the Kyl, the guy Trump had shepherding Kavanaugh's nomination through the Senate, will get a seat on the Judiciary Committee before these hearings are over.

I am encouraged by this move. Jon Kyl was a fine choice for this position.

Does that mean that Don McGahn needs to get another "sherpa" Republican prominence to shepherd Kavenaugh's nomination process? Right now it's Kyl.

Unless Kyl is put on the Judiciary Committee somehow (and perhaps even then), he'll have and be given plenty of time to help get Kavanaugh through. No one else seems to looking at anything else right now.

John Kyle is a true conservative Republican!! I am pleased with this choice, and feel sure DJT is also. He will be a Trump supporter.

Answering my own question (if the article is correct):

“Kyl served three terms in the Senate before retiring in 2012. For six years, he served in the party’s Senate leadership as minority whip. He will not retain his seniority when he returns to the Senate.”

I imagine that as “sherpa” for Kavanaugh, Kyl is a sure vote for confirmation.

I wonder if he could find another real republican to appoint one in place of Flake (even though he's still alive he gives all the appearance of being brain dead)

WASHINGTON – Republican John Kyl of Arizona, who served three terms in the Senate before retiring in 2012, has been sworn in to fill the seat left open by the death of Sen. John McCain.

Kyl has only committed to serve until the end of the current congressional session on Jan. 3. Still, he'll have the chance to cast key votes, including whether to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

His support will give Republicans more cushion to confirm Kavanaugh before the midterm elections in November.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he could not be happier that the "new, not-so-junior senator" will be working during a time that he described as "all hands of deck for the American people."

Vice President Mike Pence swore Kyl in.

Safe and effective. Kyl will do a good job.

Does he do the rest of the entire term, or will there be a special election at some point?

I read yesterday that McShitStain tried to cut a deal with Gov Ducey to have his wife take over right after he found he had cancer, but the Gov refused and a bitter McShitStain vowed to stay in the seat until he died.

Not sure how accurate this is, but it does sound like a douchebag move that McShitStain would pull.

He only committed until the end of the legislative term but he can stay until 2020 if I read it correctly.
