We have a deposit pending for $18 hundred and change. My taxes owed for 2019 19 hundred and change. No I'm not complaining, but that's how she goes for us..... We get taxed on this stimulus for 2020, correct?

No

The checks are technically a tax credit and are being distributed now instead of a tax credit on your 2020 return.

My bad. I was thinking of the $600 a week unemployment bonus. That’s taxable, correct?

And “No: to that, also:

Q30. Is the Payment includible in my gross income? (updated April 24, 2020)
A30. No, the Payment is not includible in your gross income. Therefore, you will not include the Payment in your taxable income on your Federal income tax return or pay income tax on your Payment. It will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2020 Federal income tax return.

A Payment also will not affect your income for purposes of determining eligibility for federal government assistance or benefit programs. Link

I'm retired and know no one getting this "bonus." But as I recall it's a freebie too. I say this as the libtards in Washington state, if I'm not mistaken, set out to tax this and got slam dunked by the Feds.

I believe you are mistaken. Some other state perhaps? Washington does not have an income tax.

I figured I'd get a direct deposit since that's how my SS comes... on Monday I got a check from Trump.

Yep, actually has his name on it... possibly just a tad narcissistic... but I guess that goes with the job.

My stimulus direct deposit returning part of my income tax withholding was about $60.

Big motherfucking deal.

If you get the direct deposit, they still mail you a letter from the white house with his giant signature on it.

At least you got something. My wife and I didn’t see a penny. We would have used the money to take an extra vacation this year, actually stimulating one of the industries hardest hit by the pandemic with our stimulus money. While I think that we needed to do something to get the economy back on track and I’m sure my investments will benefit greatly from the recovery, I’m more than a little pissed at the way a lot of this money has been spent.

If not for our two children under the age of 17, the wife and I would have received $5. Because of the kids we received $1005.

Yeah, saving most of it to pay back to Uncle Sam for taxes, but I think we'll cover them all and have some extra left over - will know more when we get closer to July 15th when we get around to settling up with 'The Man'. Wink

The funny thing is college age kids who are still dependents get nothing (even though they are over 18) and count for nothing to the parents. So no $1200 for them or $500 for the parents.

Just odd logic; we don't need any of the money really.

We won’t even get $500 for our daughter. At least my wife is saving money on gas by not having to drive to work. The whole stimulus plan has largely been a bust in my opinion. We have one tenant in our rental house (my mom lives in the other apartment of this 2 family house that we own) that is making out like a bandit. She works as a waitress and does makeup on the side. Between unemployment and the $600 weekly bonus unemployment, she’s doing great. Plus her boyfriend that also lives there is employed by the state so they are actually making more money right now than they would be otherwise. Her side business doing makeup will be picking up soon as well. At least we don’t have to worry about them paying rent lol.

Hell I thought it would have been great if they had given me stimulus credit against the 5K MORE I have to pay in taxes this year. No such luck.

This is one of the times where having 2 working parents doesn't pay. My wife and I didn't get jack shit. However, she makes more per year than $1,200 per year so I can't really complain.

It does piss me off the amount of money that is being spent that future generations will have to pay off though.

We still owe $4k for 2019 taxes to boot. Roll Eyes

I got 62 bucks. I’ve been furloughed since March 16th so it would have been nice to get some extra cash but no dice for me.

Supposedly, but I’ve not seen a dime even though I applied almost 6 weeks ago.

Trust me I’d rather be working. The 600 a week won’t even cover the alimony and child support payments I am forced by the state to pay my ex. All that “extra” money will be going right to her.
