I have only had nitrous a few times and barely feel it as with most drugs for some reason. When I got my vasectomy I was in horrible pain despite being numbed. He said he would numb me more for the other side and I felt everything. It was complete torture. When I had my first colonoscopy, they gave me three doses of their drug and it could not knock me out. I was awake and aware of the whole procedure on the screen. I make sure to tell doctors this now. When I had a titanium tooth implant installed, I made sure I was put under. When I have to get spinal injections, I make sure I get put under. NRA Benefactor Life Member

I think that's the whole point of it. No matter how bad it hurts, you just don't give a shit. Probably saved a few dentists from bodily harm over the years. There was a dental assistant who worked for a dentist I used to go to, and she always turned up the gas higher than she was supposed to because she knew I liked it, She'd keep poking her head out the door watching for the dentist, and turn it back down where it was supposed to be when she saw him coming. Quite amazing that, at 80-some years of age, you still have them. The percent of N₂O that you breathe is what determines the experience. I always liked about 55%, or "doing the speed limit" (this was way back when the 55mph speed limit first went into effect). The most important part is, afterwards, the pure O₂ purge. It's kind of a let down to come down so easily from such a nice experience, but the purge is important medically. When in doubt, mumble

^^^^^^^ Thanks Henry! I wonder if the dentist will use Knipex pliers to pull my wisdom teeth. The 6” Waterpump Pliers would be perfect. Hm… maybe I shouldn’t mention Knipex in a nonpliers thread. Serious about crackers
