Mike, be honest. You moved south because you simply want to be able to drive your S2000 year round! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

When we put our S2000 on the trailer, it was the first time I saw it since November. Way toooooo long. It comes off the trailer in about an hour. We’ll see about the heat. Tucson is cooler than Phoenix and our new home is 1,000’ above Tucson. Time will tell. We ate breakfast outdoors by the hotel pool.

All the best to you and yours Mike. I sincerely hope your new home will be everything and more than you hoped for.

As for the S2K sled....wonder how scenic and "challenging" the local roads are, as well as traffic and driver behavior.

ADDENDUM:
did a search about scenic drives in and around the Tucson area and got these:

Interesting. I grew up in Havre and Helena and we moved to Boise for my sophomore year in HS. I stayed there for 5 years and then moved out here, been here ever since (44 years now). I miss the winters I knew in Montana, though I suspect they're a little milder now. The political and social climate here has got to the point that I need to GTFO. Next year I'll be retiring and moving, and Kalispel is one of the areas on my short list.

Kalispell is nice - but is the fastest growing county in Montana. You know what has happened to home prices there. Our home went up by 50% in the last year or so. It’s nuts.

The 26' truck was about $2100. Today, for the same exact trip, it is $7000 to rent the same truck from CA to TX. Crazy.

It's because everyone is fleeing CA. Supply, meet demand.

Green Valley sure is clean, 'cause they roll up the sidewalks around 7pm.

At least our truck had adaptive cruise control, lane assist and a comfortable cab - though very loud. I can’t imagine 27 hours with no cruise.

I've done a couple 1,700 mile trips and a few 1,200 mile trips like that. They're stressful drives but I enjoy them because I enjoy driving.

Years ago my buddy flew down from Chicago to El Paso to help me pack the 26' truck and drive to Orlando with my old CUV on a car trailer. Took us 2 solid days to pack that truck. He was tired and worn out. We drove until I got tired then stopped to rest, then drove again. One night we were near Baton Rouge, LA and got to the rest area (I don't do hotels when I drive a moving truck over the road) around 2am and napped. I woke up around 5am and started driving again, he was still sleeping slumped forward against the seat belt.

We get into Orlando and our first meal was Taco Bell. It was one of the best meals we'd ever had. I don't eat much on the road as I don't want to risk an upset stomach or stopping too frequently for the bathroom.

There's somethin' wrong with the world today
I don't know what it is
Something's wrong with our eyes

We're seein' things in a different way
And God knows it ain't his
It sure ain't no surprise

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

HEHEHEHE that's right. And the old farts get up at 5:00 AM. Most folks eat the Early Bird special at 5:00PM, Happy Hour is at 4:00PM.

Seriously. There's only a couple of places to eat after 9PM.

Last time I was there the older old farts in the Green Valley Amateur Radio Club (yes I'm a member, they've not thrown me out yet) invited me to breakfast at Coaches Bar & Grill. 6:30AM was a bit early for me. At 9AM one of the guys said he was going to go home for his morning nap. LOL.
